I use the WiFi connection. I am a high school band director. I often set the camera up in our auditorium and use my iPad on my music stand to control the camera. I have never had any issues at all.

I use my iPhone/iPad all the time with the Canon Connect App to control the camera in both still and video mode. Just connect and it is very self explanatory.

I have owned both and at the same time. They are both exceptional cameras. I bought the 6DMKII first. Once I got my 5DMKIV, the 6DMKII became a seldom used backup camera. I recently traded the 6DMKII towards a R5 so I no longer have it. The 5DMKIV does have two cards for recording data where the 6DMKII only has one. There is no question that the 5DMKIV is the superior camera.

Having owned a 7D, my first question would be do you have a number of EF-S (crop sensor) lenses? They will neither work on the 5DMKIV or a 6DMKII. Should you have a number of EF-S lenses, I would strongly encourage you to not overlook the R6. It is the same price as the 5DMKIV. With an adapter, your EF-S lenses as well as EF lenses can be used on that camera if you indeed have them. I think it is superior to the 5DMKIV in terms of focus, color, etc.

Just something to consider based upon my experiences with all three cameras.

I absolutely love mine. The colors are fabulous. The prints are sharp and crisp. You did not give any description of the issues/problems you are experiencing; therefore, it is difficult to make any assessment of your situation. I hope you resolve your issues.

THIS ITEM HAS SOLD

I have a new unopened RRS L Bracket for a Canon 6DMKII that is for sale. I purchased it for my 6DMKII. I never opened it nor used it prior to trading the Camera for a new Canon EOS R5. New, it is priced at $160.00 on B and H (what I paid for it). I will sell it for $65.00 ($50.00 for the bracket and $15.00 to cover the cost of shipping). If shipping is less than $15.00, I will include the difference in the package. If interested, please email me at: john.j3imaging@gmail.com

Just remember that for the most part that photo contests utilize “subjective” judging. I have yet to enter a photograph in a contest where a rubric for adjudication was made available ahead of time. I once entered three photos in a contest. Two were accepted. I then entered the unaccepted photo in another contest and it was awarded a financial prize and won. There is often no rhythm or reason to wrap your head around with regard to photo contest outcomes. If you like the photo and you are proud of it, enter it. If you win then wonderful. My advice is that if it falls short of your hopes and expectations, don’t self-judge your work against that one adjudication of your photo(s). In saying all of that, personally, I would encourage you to enter that photo in multiple contests!

I live just south of you down Hwy 280. I also love to take photos of old buildings and those falling into disrepair that mostly sit on old farm places. There are plenty of them in the area for sure. It often becomes a Sunday afternoon outing for me to find such old structures and photograph them. Do you ever post any of your photos in the Forgotten Alabama group on FaceBook? Thanks for posting.

Striking image!

In that the water (lake or sea) reflects the sky I’m curious why it isn’t ablaze with the light from the sunset.

It is the Gulf of Mexico at the mouth of Mobile Bay. I have photographed the lighthouse from multiple locations since the beginning of 2020. I am serious when I say she has been my favorite muse recently.

Once the sun drops below the horizon, there is very little sky reflection on the water. Before the sun completely drops below the horizon, you will see varying reflections especially from higher vantage points in the area. My perspective was very flat for this image. I was probably at least a half of a mile from the water’s edge and the lighthouse is 3.2 miles off the shoreline. That was why I was able to achieve a bokeh in the foreground. The sky color changes by the minute for about 30 minutes after sunset until dark especially if there are thin clouds in the sky. The vibrant orange is more prominent during the winter months when the sun sets more so in the southern sky. The summer more northern sunsets in that area are more violet in hue. Of course this image is significantly color saturated. I had a look I wanted to achieve. Even straight out of camera, it is a beautiful image.

The Sand Island Light has been my favorite muse as of late. The lighthouse sits at the mouth of Mobile Bay in Alabama, U.S.A. Sand Island was originally approximately 400 acres in land area. Erosion following the dredging of a shipping channel in the bay has relegated it to its current state, which is a fortified island to preserve the lighthouse structure. It sits approximately 3.2 miles from Fort Morgan, which was the location for this shot.

Lol... If I was actually going to offer a remotely educated speculation, I would want to know if these offerings are DSLR models or mirrorless models. If they are indeed DSLR models and EF lenses, I suspect (speculating now) the sellers have either lost interest in serious photography in lieu of smart phone snapshots or that they are paring down their DSLR arsenals in favor of the new EOS R5 and R6 cameras and RF series lenses as I did when I traded my T6s and 6DMKII and a number of EF-S and EF lenses on the newer mirrorless models. Now, if they are offering their new EOS R, R5, and R6 cameras up for sale, that would paint a different picture. Also, has it occurred to you that significantly more Canon cameras are sold than Nikons so therefore there are more of them out there to be sold second hand? Honestly, I don’t think that there is any significant statistical brand trend preferences or customer satisfaction trends to be correlated from the information you provided. However, it was fun thinking about it! Fortunately, us photographers are not so tribal that we cannot be cordial with one another. At least instead of merely two parties, we have the Canon Party, the Sony Party, the Nikon Party, the Fuji Party, the Panasonic Party, the Hasselblad Party, etc. to divide us as we all capture wonderful images with our various hardware. Happy New Year and may 2021 bring you many great images from your Canons and Nikons!

I am intrigued by old forts and military installations. This is an aerial photograph of Fort Morgan taken at sunset on Saturday, November 14, 2020. Fort Morgan sits on the eastern shore of the mouth of Mobile Bay at the Gulf of Mexico. It was actually active through World War II. I took the liberty of removing any items and structures not associated with the fort such as a communications tower, non native structures, paved roads, etc. I wanted to create a picture that I felt would be representative of the way the fort was before the area was modernized.

Photo taken with the DJI Mavic 2 Pro.

In all honesty, I only see one thing wrong with this picture. It is literally perfect in every other respect in my opinion. What is wrong with it? I didn’t take it! Lol... Seriously, this is a spectacular and stunning image in every respect! Congratulations!
