I'm looking to upgrade from my 50D and am wondering which to choose. I shoot mostly portraits and landscape, very little action. I see very good prices for brand new. I already own 3 EF lenses.
In February I purchased a Canon 50D body from a seller in Russia from ebay. It was and is in great condition and it arrived in about 10 days. I had no problems at all.
I remember when an slr camera was used to shoot only still images. Now, with today's dslr, it is possible to also shoot video. If you could choose; would you prefer a camera that on shoots single shots or one that does both?
I have been somewhat interested in the battery grips, mainly for the additional power. I have seen somewhere that they can also be a plus when shooting with longer lenses such as a 70 - 200mm or an 80 - 200mm, which I own. What are your experiences?
I own a Canon 50D, which I purchased in February. Since then, I bought a couple used lenses. Out of the four that I currently own, I probably have used the Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 and the Tokina 80 - 200mm f/2.8 the most. I have not purchased the more expensive lenses yet, as I am still developing my skills. What are your 2 favorites?
I too, think that some are over lensed. I'm no professional, but I've been into photography for more years than I care to admit. Until about 10 years ago, all I shot with was Minolta 35mm. Then I tried "digital", and all of a sudden I became addicted to the instant rewards of being able to see what my shots looked like. I progressed from the simple cameras to the Panasonic Lumix cameras, which I stayed with for a number of years, and was quite happy with. Then I discovered the Canon crop sensor Rebel XSi. Wow! What a difference! I used it for about 3 years, along with my Panasonic Limix FZ200, which had a dynamite zoom lens. A few months ago, I won a bidding war on Ebay for a Canon 50D. That's when I truly realized how much the lens contributes to the images. I had a couple left over after selling the Rebel and from there I decided to move a bit, until my skill level will dictate more expensive glass.
I'm sure that it is out of warranty. Everything thing that came in the original box is included; charger, CDs, USB cord, strap and hood as well as the box. Also UV filter.
I'm offering a Sigma les for sale; 18-200mm F3.5-6.3 DC OS. I have used this as my primary lens (Canon Rebel XSi) for a few years now. It is in great condition, although, I would not say that it is "mint", but it is in great shape. Asking price is $180.00.
I'm offering my Panasonic Lumix bridge camera for sale. Now that I've moved upward in quality, I've decided that it is easier for me to learn from using just my Canon 50D. This FZ200 has no flaws at all. It's in A1 shape and I will also include the UV filter that I bought when new, for lens protection. I'm asking $250.00, which does not include shipping.
Thanks. I'm a relative novice and I use it for a lot of non-specific tasks. No specialties yet.
I'm not particularly interested in IS. I may look into Tokina, Tamron and Sigma as well.

I am not as yet the photographer that I someday will be and am still quite the newby. That said; I have seen many post with the truly seasoned guys who use the 70-200mm f/2.8, be it on a crop sensor or on ff camera. I have been considering a move to 80-200mm f/2.8 from my Sigma 18-200 f/3.3-6.3. As my camera is a Canon 50D, would this be worthwhile? I ask this because a move to the Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 is out of my price range.
