The Nikon TC-14E III is essentially the same thing as the original TC-14E and TC-14E II, just with different cosmetics. This III adds a rubber ring at the back, but removes the mechanical linkage needed to use this with lenses with an aperture ring present in the first two versions.

DP Review is no more than a collection of bloggers, the quality of the info posted there varies widely with whoever posts it. As already said Nikons TC's, as well as all other TC's, are always full frame in sizing. No one makes a dedicated APS-C sized TC.
As for your 85mm Micro lens, you do NOT want a TC on it anyway, what you want for that would be an extension tube set. Much cheaper too.

You're right, that's definitely a typo. Go to B&H photo and look at the specs. It's compatible with both FX and DX.

Mahalo again OddJobber,

I'm not sure I would use it that much with a micro so spending $500.00 more for the 105mm may not really be worth it.
I pinned that chart to my start page so I won't have to ask again.

Forgot to add, here's the compatibility chart from Nikon.

And no, the TC's will not mount to your 85mm. Sorry.

I was considering it but will now look only for used 105mm's.

All the Nikon TC's are full frame (FX).

Mahalo OddJobber,

I thought so but if you look on DP Review you'll see what I mean. Must be a typo.

I saw on DP Review that the TC-E14II is a (FX) Tele-converter and the TC-E14III is a (DX). Does anyone know if the II is compatible with the 85mm3.5 micro-nikor.

I saw a color compatibility chart here once and know that my 80-400mm 4.5-5.6 is usable with all but can auto focus only on the 1.4 but am wondering if the 85mm will also.

Appreciate any information, Mahalo

That's the down side. I have the D7000 with the vertical grip and that AF/AE button doesn't auto focus so your back to shutter button focus. Somewhat frustrating to have to remember but I rarely shoot vertically so BBF is preferable to me. Does take a while to get used to.

BTW, Steve I saw your video a couple of month's ago and its what convinced me to try it. Mahalo!.

UPDATE: Amazing what you can learn by reading your camera manual.

I reset the AE-L/AF-L button on my MB-MD11 vertical grip and have BBF there as well now.

Also set up other custom functions like reducing exposure as the D7000 seems to over expose normal and bright scenes and fine tuning AF with each lens. Experimenting with Auto ISO as well.

Using D7100, mostly. You're correct. Guess that means you lose the functionality of that button for auto exposure lock, right?

And I am not amused about having my name mentioned in your ongoing saga.

That's fine and I'm sorry to have put your and simon's name in but you two are the two from other countries that I have interacted with the most and wanted opinion's from outside the USA. It is not an ongoing saga as you put it but was a post I responded to and was then attacked several times and it upset me so I came here to see what others might think. Sorry to have bothered you.

Let it go. You do not want to warn others really. What you are looking for is support for you point of view. Delete the attic from your profile and ignore further discussions there. Not difficult really.

Ahh, I take it your a Soothe Sayre knowing my intention's. Again I never went to the attic and don't know where to find it.

I take it that it's in my profile page. I'll have to check that out.

Let me guess, you were getting your arse kicked and hope someone here will agree with you?!
Remember, that fools rush in, where wise men never go!! That attic is nothing but a bunch of yappy little loud dogs. Please keep them there!!
Anyway, there's an i***t named Gitzo who post his BS here all the time, knowing full well Admin won't move it for days, if ever......, don't be that i***t!!!

I'm not trying to lower anyone to any level and the arse kicking never happened. Although they threatened to break my hands and fingers. Good luck!.

I may not look at it the way some of you do and that is my right. BTW, the original post and mine were swept away in lightning fashion. That fact leads me to believe that it was done to keep new members from seeing what goes on at times here.

Maybe someone should poll all new members to see what their opinion's are before sweeping it into the attic.?

Also lets be clear, I did not go to the attic at any time but was trying to bring a continuing problem to light for the benefit of new members and others who might feel the same way.

MakuaMan. I agree with you that no one should have to put up with insults and it has caused me great concern on this site, but I have stuck around. I am an amateur and hope to learn from the photographers here who have been VERY WILLING to pass on their expertise to others for which I am grateful.

I didn't even know that there was an "Attic", but why? There is no need for it. What purpose does it serve? I first stumbled across this site because of my interest in photography and I am sure that is why most of us are here too. If people want to rant and rave they should go elsewhere and leave the rest of us to carry on in a civilized manner.

Mahalo Heather,

I knew about it but there is no heading for it which makes it hard to find. I can only go to my Original post to respond.

This makes me wonder if the Administrator just wants to sweep it out of the way so new members aren't aware of what goes on here at times. I don't want to believe that but I can only go with what I see.

M.M., why didn't you just stay in the Attic?

I can't find it. A better question might be why true photographer's won't stand up but wish to sweep it into the attic where its hidden from most here. I believe I know the answer but would rather see what others might have to say.
