Not only did they loose the B-29 but Rick, the Engineer became very Ill but before they could leave for Tule the Caribou had to have a jug change. With the cylinder R/R they flew back to Tule and Rick has surgery but unfortunately several days afterwards he pass away from a blood clot.
A jug change is no picnic, and w/cold like this makes even more miserable.
The U-Tube video is edited from the original PBS Nova presentation and has a different narrator, the DVD is available at PBS or I think Target had it. I purchased mine from PBS
I discovered a video update of the Kee Bird. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iop_cjxLVSI
Cool ride and nice capture, looks like a set of True Spokes it's ridding on. I sold a set at Pate back in '91 that were on my 55' HT when I won it.
Great set and great job restoring an outstanding bird. I believe I spotted the VN service ribbon at the patch panels, very cool.
My new Wife and I saw him in 1964 when he made an appearance dressed like this for an annual benefit show for Houston Fire Dept. I think the MC said Willie was a DJ in Louisiana or Beaumont, Tx. BTW Sonny James, of "White Sportcoat and A Pink Coronation" was the headliner.

Thanks for reminding us of such a great and funny guy, love the video of his recollection of his life and as they say, you just can't make up that stuff. LOL
I have a copy of Up Front which has more text than cartoons, I think. I also remember the move of the same name, but looking back there was another movie, Back Up Front(I do not remember) but would like to see both.
Great set, this ole boy no doubt is the Cock of the walk, I Noticed his spurs.
Thanks for sharing

Perhaps he should look up "Motocycle Canonball Endurance Race". http://motorcyclecannonball.com/ This is a coast to coast race held every other year, the 2016 race required the bike need be 2016 or earlier and guess what they all had peddles. The 2018 race will have 1929 bikes or earlier. May be you will school these riders in the proper name of their scoot.
Have fun and keep the shiney side up.

I lusted for a Lister Chevrolet back in the day, if your in to that type racing you will salivate at the body style. The Bocar out of Colorado was a similar design.
But then Jim Hall Texas oil man showed up the kickass Chaparral, actually a series of Chaparrals, and the ingenuity was under the tarp.
Thanks for the memories

Thank You for Your Service Mac, and for you Veterans of Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow, Thank You. While I didn't surve in the Navy my brother was a Pecker Checker and I spent my time watching from the shore, USAF '59-'62.
While doing my usual web surfing last evening I ran across a video tour of the WW II Battleship USS Iowa, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dW83U4bkC_k&spfreload=1
which was very interesting.
Thanks again for your service

That's what I thought, but about 20 yrs ago I had dinner in a rotating restaurant in Ottawa. We were serenaded by a Mexican 3-member band (Marimba?) while we dined. They were good.
Are you thinking about a Mariachi Band?
