I was once fired from a pickle factory. I was caught with my pecker in the pickle slicer...she got fired too!!

The mom received this gift Christmas morning. This morning, I got an email from the father with her reaction...
"She loved the gift - it almost brought on tears..." "the colors are perfect. We are at least 100% satisfied and happy with the work." "Thank you again for everything."
Reading that email made my day!
Thanks to everyone for your input and suggestions. The crop was a really great idea, and I think that helped a lot.
I hope you all had a great Christmas.

Dave

For those that are interested in the outcome, the mother, recipient of this portrait, opened it Christmas morning. The father sent me an email with her reaction.
"She loved the gift - it almost brought on tears..." "the colors are perfect. We are at least 100% satisfied and happy with the work."

So in the end, even though we did have a problem, Adorama came through for us. The guy that does the printing even took the time to personally call me. You just can't beat Adorama for the way they care about their customers and reputation. They are human, so mistakes will happen, but when they do, this company will go above & beyond to make it right.

I am about 2 months behind on my reading of my daily UHH news, so that's why I am commenting now, several weeks after the last entry. Let me start off by saying that I don't know, but sincerely hope that Admin has banned the anti-semitic, semi-literate asshole from this forum whose disgusting remarks were removed. If not, SHAME ON ADMIN!
That said, I had no idea how stupid and racist a few on here are. I also do not understand how some have just taken the alleged labor situation at B&H to mean that other companies in the industry, (such as Adorama) are automatically guilty as well. How this became about Jews, Muslims, other companies, and who started the mud-slinging of 27 pages, I don't even want to understand.
I am offended by much of what I read here as a member of this forum, as a photographer, as a Jew and as a human being. You are all entitled to your opinions, no matter how vile and disgusting they may be, but if you have any class at all, that kind of stuff, should never be typed publicly, spoken aloud and should never ever leave the inside of your shit-filled heads. Sorry, but if the shoe fits...

Not my wife, but thanks. I did this for someone else's family.

Joe C. I trusted them because they are a terrific company and they have been highly recommended her on the Hog. I have purchased about 65% of all my camera and lighting gear from them, (almost all the rest from B&H), and I know their reputation. Had I ordered from someone else, who is to say that they could not possibly make a similar mistake? If so, who is to say how that mistake would be handled by another company?
I really was upset when I opened the package and saw the wrong picture. Frankly, I was even more upset when I had to tell the family, but they took the bad news well, and made me feel better. As I said before, anyone can make a mistake, but how they handle it to me is much more important before I pass final judgement.

UPDATE: I just received a package!!! I'll let you know later.

PCity, you're right, perhaps I should have sent a message to Helen 1st, but my intention wasn't to bad-mouth anyone as it was to report the facts and get it off my chest. It is not my intention to hurt AdoramaPix or Adorama, but just to share what has happened.
Please understand, this company is run by human beings. They are subject to human error, just like you & I. If their reaction to the situation did not result in a positive final outcome, I would then be doing a service by informing everyone.
It appears that they will get this right and handle it as one would expect from such a great company, which is also good to report.

Stuff happens, and its not always for the better....but that's life.

When dealing with Adorama or B&H, Hoggers should make use of the company contacts (and participants) with the forum to resolve the matter. I've followed/read problem situations reflected here over the years, and contact with these sources resolve the matter 99.9% of the time. Lets do this first before bad mouthing the firms.

Anyone can make a mistake. I make them all the time. I must also admit that when I screw up, no one tells a forum of 1000's of people about it. The important thing is how they respond.
Thanks for your comment.

I have used AdoramaPix constantly too and have only had one issue (which turned out to be my wife's ordering the wrong size so it doesn't really count). They have been fast and reasonable and easy to work with. I am sure that they will make it up to you although I realize that there are time constraints on you because of the holidays. I am sure they are having crazy times because of Christmas, Hanukkah, etc. too.

Adorama, in my opinion, runs a business with an impeccable reputation. They made a mistake here with me, but they seem like they are doing everything to make it right. As long as I get this favorably resolved, I will be using their print service in the future. That said, I know how you feel. There are a large number of various types of businesses that will never see my face again because of prior bad service. The difference is, when things went wrong, these other companies didn't care enough to take appropriate action to make things right. As long as AdoramaPix gets this straightened out by the end of the week, I can't hold a grudge.
Thanks for your comment and good luck with your print project.

For me, in a situation like this, One screw up is the kiss of death, no second chances. I will still shop gear from them but was just about to send them a calendar order that I will now do locally. Thanks for the heads up.

Catfish, the original is 20X24 and the one I made will be printed the same size. I don't know if they make a frame that can hold both, but I am sure they will be displayed side by side.
Thanks for your comment.

Thanks for your nice reply. I am still waiting for the print to come from the lab, can't wait to give it to the family!
