One of our favorite sellers, B&H, has been getting bad publicity for unfair labor practices. It will be interesting to see how this develops. Lots of references on Google.

I just read on Google that the same thing is happening to Adarama and all other photo retailers throughout the world. Something surely is "developing". Love Google don't you, you can really relay on it for accuracy and honesty.

One of the google items was back in 2010, but another of recent date. I know there are always two sides to a story/conflct, but it is very disheartening to read. "Where there is smoke there's fire" (or not?).

I for one would be hesitant to deal with them until they get this settled. Adorama could well benefit from this issue. Hopefully they (Adorama) have not followed the same course of action.

This seems to be the latest.

Money talks and .......I believe that few are principled enough to spend more money elsewhere to make a statement. Just my thoughts.

Sadly, Al Jazeera America is not known for either accurate or reliable reporting. One can expect a union wanting to gain a foothold to say whatever it thinks needs to be said. I used to belong to the country's largest union, and I have some experience with this. A court will probably have to decide. Fortunately for B&H, most of their business is from the internet, and there's plenty of people who want to work and earn a paycheck, so those who quit will be replaced fairly quickly.

The same could be said for all media outlets. They all suck from time to time.

This should be moved to another section of the forum.

My personal and long term experience with both of these companies is favorable. However, if I learn they have been mistreating employees or engaging in other shady and or illegal business practices I will be looking elsewhere. We should wait until the facts are in before making a judgment.

Indeed. If I were them I would relocate the warehouse operation somewhere where workers want to work. ;)
And I agree this thread should be moved elsewhere- the Attic?

Well...the source of the "bad publicity" is Aljazeera...not quite the bastion of unbiased reporting.

No. This is informative on one of the industry remaining giants.

As to accuse al jazzera of being a propaganda tool you know very little. Yes, it is a middle east TV station. Yes, most of not all the staff is Muslim. No, it does not mean they are extremists or promote extremist views. This outfit has been creating waves all over the middle east for its programming. It is highly controversial there. Several times had its journalists have put in jail for what they are exposing. Saudi Arabia rulers are particularly upset at its reporting. Al Jazeera is based in Quatar and modeled on the BBC funding as well as editorial policies. 'Modeled' being they keyword Qatar rulers keep a tight eye on their creation and use it as a diplomatic tool in the middle east which does not please the other gulf countries.

Now if you take the time to follow some of the links provided within the few articles and you will find that this unlike other stories this is well documented.

So for those who comment and try to discriminate against the sources used by the article (Al Jazzera) do your own research as I did. It does not take long to find related stories. That some are old is not a reason to dismiss them at all, quite the contrary. They show that the company has a long history of labor problems that cannot be 'dismissed out of hand'.

This is a pastern you see in many large companies that are sometimes tech oriented, just check Apple, Dell and who knows who else. While the clothing industry is the most notorious for unfair labor practice it is far from being the only one. In the US, just look at the farming industry...

Enough said.
