A "thin" or "slim" filter will range from 7.5mm thick to 4.5mm.

You've got a few choices to pick from:

Thank you for these links. With your vast experience with wildlife and outdoor shooting. Which circular polarize filter do you like? Why?

Two things, how thick is your CPL? They do make very thin filters but they will cost more. How wide are you shooting? You should be able to look through the camera and adjust the zoom out until you see clear corners. Usually you will have the dark corners top and bottom so it could also mean that your lens needs to be adjusted by the factory.

I didn't notice any darkening in corners when I shot these pictures. Focal length was 18mm, 26mm, 20mm and others were 56mm and 70mm.

I called B & H and found found out that my filter is not a thin filter. I bought this filter from salesman recommendations without researching polarizing lens. OK pros-What are your recommendations for a polarizing filter for the D7100?

An interesting point. I notice that the vignetting is always at the top of the frame - is the filter on securely? Is it on straight?

The filter is securely mounted and straight. I looked at being straight and secure once again after you posted this message.

There was no second filter on camera on camera. I'll re shoot today with the sun out. With and without filter. However, this is not recreating same environment when pictures were first taken

I didn't use a lens hoods because I haven't seen the sun in two days. The filter was bought at B & H with the lens. I bought the filter based upon their recommendations. Cost of filter was $95.00 if that says anything about the quality. Filter correctly mounted.

After longer than 20mm you might not see any vignetting if the cause is the filter. If you remove the filter and shoot at your widest setting (18mm) does it still vignette? If it does it is a lens issue and will need some correction. If it is caused by the filter it could still be a lens issue.

I'll remove the shoot filter and shot at 18mm with and without filter. I don't understand why some pictures shot at 18mm, 26mm, 20mm, 56mm had vignette and others didn't? But I'll go back to the site where the pictures where taken and try to recreate the same shots using a polorizer with and off camera. Thanks for the suggestions.

Yep, remove the polarizer or zoom in to maybe 28 mm and see if the vignetting disappears.

If the polarizer filter is the problem and I remove it? What should I replace it with? If it is the brand of poloarizering filter being used what should I replace it with?

Remove the polarizer - looks like the ring is vignetting your shot.... or shoot less wide....

Edit: Normally the correct lens hood is designed to NOT vignette your widest shot with the lens, but an attached filter may not have the correct design and could interfere with a wide shot.

The lens is a Sigma 18-300 with a Hoya circular polarize filter. The vignette didn't occur on as many shots taken above 70mm. The vignettte only appeared on some wide angle and not with others shot with the exact same focal length.

I'm just getting getting familiar with my new but refurbished D7100 and can't figure out why on the top corners it has dark rings on the edge. I'm shooting with circular polarized filter only no lens hood. This is the first time out with camera.

I purchased my refurbished D7100 also with a Transcend SD, in my case, a 32GB. I still use it although not exclusively because I purchased a faster card which is my primary.

I would sure like to hear an explanation as to how a storage medium could affect the performance or damage anything.

Have you tried using a different card and lens?

No the lens is brand new too-Sigma 18-300 and I will try a new approved card by Nikon. They told me if I didn't use one of their approved cards it could void the warranty of the new refurbished D7100. I reset the camera back to factory settings and it is working at the present time.

Was the store an authorized Nikon reseller? Could you have been sold a gray market Nikon possibly which has no Nikon warranty in this country?
No the store that sold me the D7100 was Cameta. They told me the card would work fine and Nikon can not test all cards. They get a kick back. I still don't understand why this card could void the Nikon warranty and they still sale it together with my order?

All I use are Transcend. NEVER had a problem with any of them. I have about a dozen of them in different sizes and speeds.

Do a FULL Reformat on your computer. Then format it again in the camera. If the problem persists, contact the vendor who sold you the camera for a replacement. Transcend cards have a lifetime guarantee.

When I contacted Nikon. I was asked if I formatted the Transcend in the computer. I told them Yes. I was then told NEVER to format memory cards in the computer. That could be the problem. Is this true or not?

After using my refurbished D7100 the auto focus stopped working after 2 months of use. I called Nikon and they help me rest the camera to factory settings. With my camera I received a Transcend 64 gb memory card. Nikon told me that this card wasn't approved by Nikon and could cause camera damage and void warranty. This might me one reason causing the autofocus to stop working.
Question-Does anyone else have trouble with the Transcend memory card? Why would an online Camera store sell me a memory card that will void Nikon warranty? This online camera store is one that is in New York and recommended by many photographers on this site.

Wahoo, if I'm doing serious photography I don't go without a tripod. When on vacation I carry my tripod for up to and more than 16hrs per day. I don't use it much during the daylight but it eventually gets dark or sometimes indoors and a camera is useless without one. And I don't recall that in all the years I've been shooting that I ever took a selfie, that's what cell phones are for.
It's a matter of whether a backpacking trip would for photography or some other reason. It's just priorities. ;-)
