When I say drift, I mean I am locked on to a subject...and then the camera moves slightly. I am using a gimbal Sirui head on a Manfrotto tripod 055x PROB. Some of the Park photographers say Stabilizer on others say off. I did use a shutter release and none of them liked that. Maybe I need something heavier????
Smith934...what would you recommend?
I have the Gimbal head and am using the IS. I will try turning that off and see what happens. Thanks everyone for the suggestions.
Love this site.
In Yellowstone shooting with a Canon 7D and a 500 mm lens on a sirui tripod head. I focus in on a sight but the camera / lens drifts. Another photographer had an attachment to the camera foot that looked a v shape piece that stabililized the camera. He had a friend make it. Any suggestions on where to buy something like that? Also the attachment to the foot was about 6-8 inches long. I know I'm not explaining myself well...but any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks so much everyone. I think I will get the OpTec pro with the longer straps.
Appreciate all the input.
Any suggestions on Camera Straps? I own a Canon 7D and of course, the strap identifies the camera. I love wildlife shooting, and hiking with my camera. Looking for something safe, secure and comfortable.
Thank you everyone. Wish me luck!
Accidentally formatted an SD card.
Is there software available to try and retrieve
The photos? I have a7D, if that makes a
Difference. Thank you
Thank you for the information. Very hard to read a manual on an iPhone!
I had been in the rain for about an hour photographing a bull moose and even with the camera covered wondered if it was a moisture issue.
Back in the motel room about four hours later...I had removed the lens from the camera. I tried the camera again and no clicking. So far today, it's working...so maybe moisture issue. Regardless, I am taking it to our camera shop and have it sent out for cleaning and a checkup. Again..thank you.

On a photo tour in the Tetons and my Canon 7D started making a clicking noise when I turn it on.. It says err 20 and says turn camera off and on and remove battery and replace... Have done that. I do have a backup camera but would like to figure this out...am unable to download manual. Any ideas?
Wow...Learned something new today. Great site and Thanks!
My 2 cents here...I use 16 and 32 memory cards. I go to Yellowstone 4 times a year...shooting in continuous and video and have never had a problem.Always have a card in my pocket to switch out if necessary. I have 10 cards total and I agree that if a card quits working, I haven't lost everything. I bring my laptop with me and load my photos every night, but never erase my cards until I get home and then load them on my desktop which has an external back up. Then and only then will I erase the card. Can you tell I am a little paranoid about these photos!
I do about 4-5 Yellowstone trips a year and it's helpful for different situations to have another set up available.
Does anyone see an issue with the ISO jumps in the 70D
Looking for a second camera body and noticed that seemed to be an
Issue for one reviewer. Any thoughts. I was looking at a second
7D, but like some of the second features in the 70D
