All are great. My favorite is #1. somehow it conveys emotion and I like that!
Thank you photomark. You never know what you don't know until you do.
Photo mark why is the Milky Way not visible at this time?
PaulR01, I cant find Rokinon 14mm 1.4 only the 2.8. The other Rokinon lens I am considering is the 24mm f/1.4 which is a little more expensive, but is it a better lens? I just want the best chance at getting some great images as it's not every day I can convince my husband to rough it in the middle of nowhere.
I have a trip coming up in big bend at a time when there is a new moon and peak night of leonid meteor shower. I have a d800 without a suitable lens. I have been researching lenses and have conflicting opinions from people who are avid astrophotographers. One person stated the Rokinon lenses are better than Nikon for sharp images without star trailing. I am going to purchase a lens, but cannot decide on which one. There is substantial difference in price between Rokinon and Nikon prime lenses. Any advise out there for the "one lens" that does the best job? I am soooooo confused.
Local camera shop for me is 85 miles away, so no quick trip back to the store for me, ha ha
Thank you for all the information. I did purchase from Nikon authorized dealer and was able to register the camera with Nikon. I called Nikon and was able to order the cover. Thanks for the link Linda. I am sure it will be much more informative than a manual in Spanish. Merry Christmas to all.
I bought a used one from a camera shop and thought the box contained all that would have come with a new one. The manual is in Spanish (should have noticed that). On the bottom of the camera, there is a connection, just to the right of the battery compartment, which is without a cover. Is there supposed to be a cover? I cant tell from the pictures. Thanks for the help.
Great shot. I love reflections. Also, I didn't know Kenny Rogers sang that song. Who would have thought the "gambler" started out a psychedelic rocker. Thanks for sharing.
I have that same "opinion" question. I have been researching online and checking out models in the store, but I still cannot decide. My old Nikon cool pix is having focus issues. We are going on a cruise and there are times when you just want something that fits in a small purse.
Thank all of you for the information. It has been extremely helpful. As with anything, the more you know, the more you know you need to learn more. For me, photography has been a life long journey, and I have learned much along the way through trial and error. When I started with my first 35mm at age 18, computers were things you saw in spy thriller movies. It would have been very helpful if I had learned them along the way also instead of trying to cram all this information into an old brain. :) Terri
bdk. thanks for the info. I was wondering about raw files and how other people dealt with those instead of JPEG. I didn't know there was a difference until I started using my DSLR instead of my 35mm.
Thank you so much for the suggestions. I checked out both sites and just need to decide which one will work best for my needs.
thank you so much for the info. As I continue to research the subject, I am learning more and more.
I am sorry if I seem ignorant, but in truth, I am. You are saying that you store images solely on external hard drives with 2 of them being redundant and in your opinion the manufacturers you listed are the best? I mostly want to be assured that as time goes on, my children and grand children will be able to see the photos I have created in my life. I am having a hard time making the jump from 35mm to DSLR and feel like the decisions to be made are enough to make me want to pull my hair out.
