I have never heard of coating damage, always only shutter curtain and/or sensor. Highly unlikely glass elements would be adversely affected. Will be curious to see how the henhouse reacts here.

Henhouse or Dodo Farm.

I have a ton of old photos which are taking up too much space. Friends, can I get any recommendations for a high quality fast scanner? Must be Mac and PC compatible. Thank you in advance. Poto

Fast and high quality images do not go together. I have two Epson scanners, V500 Photo, and V850 Pro. A Espon V6xx or V7xx series model would do you well.

‘High quality” and “fast” aren’t generally terms that go together when you’re talking scanners. There’s a trade-off there. I use an Epson V850 to scan photos, and it produces excellent results, but it’s time consuming. You’re scanning one print at a time, and the higher the resolution, the longer the scan time. I tend to focus on the prints I really want to save, and get I quality scans with the V850. Any post-scan work that needs to be done (if not handled by the scanning software) can be accomplished in LR or PS.

Realizing that there would be many photographs of the historic total eclipse, I wanted to photograph the people who were watching the eclipse. Here are some of my images from the event. I use two, NIKON Z9, with a 24-70 2.8 S and 70-200mm 2.8 S, ISO 100, various F stops.

Superb, those are more interesting than photos of the eclipse.

Had to drive 2:30 to get to a totality zone and find some clear-ish sky’s in Texas.

Shot on z7ii remotely to my phone via SnapBridge.
79-200 @200mm with nd20 filter.

Not processed, basically just cropped.

We will see how things look on the raw file later.

Cool capture.

Unfortunately the clouds blocked the best part of the eclipse.
But it was still awesome to experience the eerie sights and strange feelings created by the descending darkness to the earth.
My Samsung S21 did the best it could to capture these and more images. . . .

Interesting anyway.

It was a perfect day Saturday after a windy wet Friday. Today was another good day. I managed to get to the Saturday event for the first drag race I've been to in 20 years. Things have changed a bit. Force is still doing his thing, Ron Capps has put a bit of weight on, but still doing good. Greg Anderson took Pro Stock. I don't recall all the other results, because I was too busy taking snap shots. Here are a few.

Nice batch of pix, thanks for sharing. Wow, it has been a few years, < 12 since I have been to a drag race. I attended the meets in Pomona three times. Watched this years Arizona Nationals on TV Fri-Sun.

If there has to be a ‘quake, this is enough for me👍

M4.8 is not very large, just unusual for the area near where it occurred. M4.8 occur every few days in California. I only worry about the ones greater than M6. The largest expected in CA would be around M8.4. South-East Asia and Chile get ones with magnitudes greater than 9. Those are truly scary and potentially deadly.

Simple way to quell that theory, write the date the same way as most of the rest of the world.

Yes, in USA 4-8, most other countries 8-4. A M8.4 earthquake is more like a huge Califirnia ones.

It took only minutes for the conspiracy nuts to get going about the NJ/NY earthquake yesterday. I'm glad I finally experienced an earthquake, though. Every time I was in CA, I hoped that I would feel at least a tremor.

Earthquake is 4.8; eclipse is on 4/8. "It's a conspiracy. The government is up to something! God doesn't like the northeast!"

If you have to wonder why the world is in such a mess, it simple. Human beings are in charge. People are idiots! Look at how worked up people got over a tremor.

I recently posted a request for advice on printers to which I received a total of 2 replies - for those two I am grateful. I believe I have gone out of my way to be complimentary to many, many, many, of the Hogs over the last 5-6 years, often for the effort shown more than results, and I must say I am very disappointed by the response.

Printer is a very general term. You could have asked for "Need Recommendations For Printing Services".

I could sure use some help in selecting a good printer for a small 50 count photo order. I've had numerous requests for a particular photograph, which I am looking to frame with a stock, ready available, matting with an inside matting diameter of 10.5" X 13.5" or smaller. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I see the word "order" so I might guess that means you are asking about a Printing Service / Photography Print Shop and not a (home) printing machine. Your one word title made that unclear. Perhaps rephrase your question. I do my printing at home with a Canon PIXMA PRO-100 printer, no longer made. I have only used two Printing services. One was COSTCO when they printed photos. And the other was one time for a print that I was buying from someone else and they selected their favorite print shop. Thus, I don't remember the name of it. Search the UHH archives. Good luck.
