Might want to check the policy in case there’s an earthquake exclusion.

Better buy Earthquake insurance quick before you can't afford it!

M4.8 is not very large, just unusual for the area near where it occurred. M4.8 occur every few days in California. I only worry about the ones greater than M6. The largest expected in CA would be around M8.4. South-East Asia and Chile get ones with magnitudes greater than 9. Those are truly scary and potentially deadly.

if I remember correctly, had about one hundred times the energy and shook things up good and proper, even though I was about forty miles from the epicenter.

The last one I experienced was more comparable to the one under discussion, at Richter 5.1. I was in bed at the time. It shook me hard enough to wake me up at 8 am. I knew immediately that it was an earthquake and I could tell that it was a fairly strong one but it was also pretty far away, so I didn't bother to get out of bed just then. (One gets blasé about earthquakes after living a while in the San Francisco Bay Area for a while.) Turned out to be about thirty miles away in Smyrna, North Carolina. I saw news pictures of a lot of canned goods in the aisles of one of the stores. A façade of one of the local buildings fell off or something of the sort; I don't remember exactly, but I don't remember hearing of any deaths or serious injuries from that one.
