Thank you Kim. Love your work! Do you find the Sony files that much more noisy that you need Topaz denoise? Is it a low light/ shadows issue?

Thanks for stopping by and having a look! Yes, they look noisier to me - especially on playback. Just me. I also find that these files clean-up exceedingly well even at 10,000 ISO. There has been a lot of discussion about this and it seems that some prefer Topaz DeNoise (it will function as a plug in from LR) or DXO Deep Prime a stand alone program but does not have plug in capability from LR unless you purchase the entire suite of DXO programs. And some people like to use both LR denoise and then run it through Topaz. Regardless, I do think mirrorless has more noise.

I hear @Festus...drank the koolaide. Depending on your type of photography, mine is 80% action in wildlife, the gear that served me was Sony. And the 600mm f4 is sooo much lighter, better balanced and enables me to carry this gear and handhold this lens at age 65. Most of us have our reasons. So go with why it is important to you to make this change. It is expensive.

I moved to Sony as well. No regrets. Yes menus are cumbersome but Sony shines at ability to customize. Everything I need is set to a button. There is nothing like Sonys ability to track an eye of a flying bird. I do miss the files from the D850 and D5. But I get there with Topaz Denoise and few other tweaks. Great price on a great kit! Good luck!

These are wonderful! I had no idea MI had more lighthouses than Maine. Hmmm...I am thinking a photo tour is in order. I particularly like the raging water image. Is spring the best time for this type of weather?

A lot of people really prefer the original box that the camera/lens came in. In many cases it does affect resale value. I have always kept mine and found it helpful for resale.

I use one for travel by ASUS. I get by with it but even with spec specs that meet both LR and Topaz requirement, it is slow. And it has a shorter shelf life. If she doesn't need it for travel, I wouldn't use that as primary. A desktop is upgradeable, and software continues to demand more and more power.

Well said. Sometimes the world and the internet are full of knuckleheads. This isn’t a flea market or garage sale.

P.S. To the OP, go to Fred Miranda forum. You will find a higher level of courtesy and respect when trying to sell your gear.

Agree on this advice. Grew very weary of all the comments and noisiness of a few here on the Hog. And please, do not defend your comments thinking others can't think, decide or research for themselves. It is sanctimonious at best and rude.

K&F Concept 82mm ND8 (3 stop), ND64 (6 stop) and C-Pol for $67.

I haven't used their ND filters, but have been shooting with a couple of their C-Pols and am impressed.

I also use a number of B+W filters: MRC, F-Pro, X-Pro. I don't have any Breakthrough, but do have some of the better Hoya and one or two other brands.

These K&F are made in China, but supposedly use the same German Schott glass as B+W and Breakthrough X4.

They also are nano multi-coated. Something like 18 layer coatings. Similar to top of the line Breakthrough and B+W.

They use aluminum frames, instead of brass like B+W. No problem if your lens uses plastic filter threads like many modern ones do.... but aluminum threaded into metal barrels can be more prone to getting stuck. Brass is better, in that case.

The only minor complaint I've heard is that some people felt the C-Pol they received was too stiff to rotate. The two I've got are fine... tight enough that they stay where I put them and no "slop". I imagine they might loosen over time, with use. We'll see, but I've only been using them for a relatively short time.

I miss my D5. And my D850. However for BIF, there is no comparison on keeper rate with mirrorless - especially the A1 from Sony. The Z9 will perform better than any of it's predecessors as well. When it's locked on, the images are sharp. Period. You now have tons of sharp images to choose the very best position of appendages. The noise issues that are greater than D5 are easily taken care of in DXO or Topaz AI.

However, The challenge out of mirrorless is it's propensity to not want to change focus if it has grabbed something further away. For this, you simply have a recall focus button set and it will grab what you are after. Or you can focus on the ground closer to yourself. This is an important concept to understand the differences between Mirrorless and DSLR technology. So one can say missed opportunities can be an issue if you aren't prepared. Despite this, I wouldn't go back to DSLR. Just need new habits while shooting.

In the earlier pardigm, OEMs cease supporting a dead issue after several years. But then they sell off the parts collection and unique tools to a well known independent repair service.

Clearly, Nikon in particular no longer gives a ratzazz for the old paradigm.

Is there a list of places that have these parts and equipment to service no longer supported gear?

Perhaps the bigget issue for the future is Nikons willingness to continue to service DSLR based technology...
