what you need is a photograph of a small child girl or boy in their school uniform standing in a backdrop of crap, easy to find in India, caption "Anybody can rise above it, help us to help ourselves "
I know India quite well the last time I was there I rode a Royal Enfield for 2000km in 10 days, half off road to raise money for UNCEF, I was one off 120 bikers all on Royal Enfields.
India has decided that all children, no matter what cast shall receive an education, I have met many children who search for knowledge, they even knew where Obama was born, how many Americans know that?
what you need is a photograph of a small child gir... (
show quote)
Royal Enfield is a good bike but 2000km of Indian hinterland is a huge challenge.

I was planning for a similar shot may be a 'working environment' background or remote landscape thing. I will be going to my hometown Kolkata today so hoping to find some time on my own.

You made an excellent choice in going for the Alpha 58, now go take some excellent images.
Good to hear that Carl as we keep getting mixed reviews.

The pictures remind me of the fate of our high school basketball coach after we lost our second consecutive state championship.
Sure that would be even madder!!
But most indian festivals are crowded ( no wonder) with lots of sound, colours, dance and shovelling around. :-)
Since its a "One photograph" contest. I was thinking more on the lines of potraying a subject and his her willingness to pursue education despite poverty or any other form of social subjugation. Eg: Child labour.
All these would require some field work so planning to rearrange some schedules.
Thanks Everyone looking forward ( already having) a nice time here.
Here comes my first Bonfire pics. This is the Indian festival of harvest called LOHRI.

If you're using the A-58, using the Fn button, go to White Balance, Set Temp and set as close to 1800 as possible.
Thats correct !! i guess i messed it up with some other setting..

lot of criteria to work from. hhhmmmm
i wasnt exactly talking about this Foundation. iCare is our Company's Corporate Social Responsibility wing. Which donates and volunteers for Social causes like education for the underpriviledges.
So the theme for this times Photography contest is social causes and helping the underpriviledges. Some pics which summerizes the need, effort and the work.
Guys ,
My office is running a Photography contest. The theme is iCare, which is our CSR wing that supports projects in Education and provides the employees an opportunity to volunteer for socially meaningful activities.
Can you guys suggest some ideas about locations and subjects?
Its like owning the first car.. cant wait to show off .. :)
