Drool inducing to be sure! Since when do you need to have a "purpose" to post a couple nice photos?

THE ONE-QUESTION MORALITY QUIZ

This test has only one question—but it's a very important one. By giving an honest answer, you will discover where you stand morally. The test features an unlikely and completely fictional situation, in which you will have to make a decision. Only you will know the results, so remember that your answer needs to be completely honest.

You are in Palm Beach, with chaos all around you, caused by a hurricane. There is a flood of biblical proportions. You are a photojournalist, working for a major newspaper, and you're caught in the middle of this epic disaster. The situation is nearly hopeless. You're trying to shoot career-making photos. There are houses and people swirling around you, some disappearing under the water. Nature is unleashing all its destructive fury.

THE TEST:
Suddenly you see a man in the water. He is fighting for his life, trying not to be taken down with the debris. You move closer. Somehow this man looks like...WOW --- it's Donald Trump! At the same time, you realize the raging waters are about to take him under forever.

YOU HAVE TWO OPTIONS:

You can save the life of Donald Trump, OR you can shoot a dramatic, Pulitzer-Prize-winning photo, documenting the last minute of one of the world's most powerful and evil men, who is hell-bent on destroying the USA.

YOUR DECISION:

Here's the question, and please give an honest answer:

Would you:

( A) select high-contrast colour film, or

( B) go with the classic simplicity of black and white?

Yes.......that is my daughter in law and my grand daughter right after they came down the slide! You can tell by the smiles on their faces that it was a fun ride for both of them!

Amazing that the "closeness" one has with family members comes out even in photographs

I got such a positive response to my previous eight postings, I thought I would post some more photos from that folder.
To refresh your memory this is what I had said before:
"I found a folder on my computer labeled "My best photos". I looked through them and pulled out 10 of my favorites from the whole folder. It's interesting that none of the photos were of surfers or the waves!
Each one is different and unique from the others in this series. Of course they all look better in download mode!"
This new posting has two photos that relate to the ocean.

I understood your point. Some things are best done with better tools not previously available.
Did you understand mine?

Here's hoping you did understand my point... As far as each tool being "appropriate" one can ride a horse 5 miles home, or a motorized vehicle. Both WILL get you there....

Most carpenters I know use all of them. Occasionally a hand saw is the only thing that will work. A hammer is still a must have. Each tool to its appropriate use.

Hmmm.. Was wondering the reason behind the question. Similar to asking a carpenter "do you use a hand saw and hammer, or an electric saw and pneumatic hammer? The former are "tools of yesteryear," and the other are "tools of today!"
(Took me a LONG time to get over film being phased out, but now!!)

I really like this effect. Can I ask you to add a bit more info on the "Texture backgrounds" and "Topaz Edge" please?

Love these little falcons. Original image had too contrasty a background to show off the bird. Used 3 Daily Texture backgrounds and finished with a Topaz edge. Comments and critiques always welcome. Bev

With ya' "..especially the hard times.."
This reminds me. A friend who took photography with me in college, myself and my wife, sometimes go out to shoot... My friend and I take our nice Canon and Nikon cameras, and my wife takes her I-Phone...
And I SWEAR..... Her "phone photos" are sometimes AS nice and (as often) NICER than out images..
Go figure!!!!

One of my requirements as a juror or exhibition organizer is that the juror(s) post their criteria. Without that, it's a crap shoot. I imagine that at a regular fair, people photos would be top priority, but I cannot know.

Using my criteria of uniqueness/originality, good color, tone, composition, and appropriate technique, I would pick Nightscape and the Domestic Animal. There are many night sky pix, but the structure in yours and its color make it unique. Domestic Animal is a cliché, but your is special for it great and suggestive color, the fine composition, and good contrasts pshyically and esthetically.

Congratulations!

#1... I like the boy with the chain in his mouth, but feel it needs a bit more PP'ing.. The dog is classic.. y PERSONALLY I don't like the reflection image, or the one with the glass buildings, but would not be surprised if they won somerthing...

I entered 8 pictures in the TN Valley Fair here in Knoxville. Of course there isn't a comparison to see what they were against, but all the same, see if you can pick what won. Here are the pictures and categories:

I had 2 firsts, 2 seconds, and one 3rd. I know the portrait of the family was really not in the correct category and is a gimme as one that didn't place. There wasn't really a category for that picture, but I liked the natural position that the little girl posed in.

The beautiful images just reminded me... My wife (from Kentucky) and myself (from The Bahamas) are packing up our house in Miami to move on "...outta here!" We both DREAM of living in a place with great scenery (mountains), some tourist, and 4 seasons. Any suggestions?
