It has a burst of 26fps. Auto focus...Focus standard....Register AF hold...Eye AF...AF on...Focus hold..AEL hold....AEL toggle...Spot AEL. zoom assist...The times I have lost the bird was in a gray sky. What I understand Sony put the sensor and focus system from the A9 in it. Lock on is .03 second. You may want to download the manual. Following a bird in flight is really fun. You can send it back if you are unhappy with it.

I have mine set at clear image zoom which gives you up to 12000mm with very little or no noise. The focus settings on the body is a button...single..auto...contuious and DMF /manual. The book will make it clearer than I can...continuous focus is for burst shots.
I just want to add that I would buy this camera again in a heartbeat.

Have had a RX10M4 forI guess 9 months or so. I can only say that it has been the best piece of equipment that I have had the pleasure of owning. I find that it does everything I want and does it well. I take mostly wildlife and the lens shutter speed and sensor are exceptional. It is a pleasure to use and I feel lucky to have one. I would say once you have some time to learn the menu you will be plesently surprised. Have fun.The book by White has been invaluable.

Really like number 4 and the Ospery. We have lived on the Gulf Coast for 27 years and do not regret one minute of life here. This is the first place where they have extended walking trails and Kayak waterways by hundreds of acres. Seeing what has happened to my state I grew up in ( Calif) this has been the best decision I could have made for my 5 children. It is awful nice to hear yes sir or yes mamn.

Had a photo contest a few weeks back. County of Manatee sponsored. I figure what the heck. Received an email that one of my photos were chosen. The family went. The picture of the little girl and the ducks got a judges choice. The dragonfly got a first place. Would have been satisfied with just having them hung. Iceing on the cake...do have a proud wife and son. Just wanted to share

RX10M4......it is a beautiful camera.....if you do buy the book by White on Amazon. Many keeper shots. Focus is awesome. 24fps burst stops a bird in flight. If you want a camera that does everything I need and does it well this is it. I always thought it was greener around the corner....not with this..this is it

The grandson of a friend of mine is a birder and has become interested in photography. My friend wants to buy him a Sony RX 10 iv as a present. He got the idea for this camera from an article by Bob Krist in Bird Watching Magazine in which Krist praised the camera. Does anyone here have experience with using this camera to photograph birds in flight?

…….…………...Here you go.....You have a tremendously quick Auto focus of .03 sec.....You have a shutter speed ot I believe 1/25000 sec. You have a a burst speed of 24fps and one beautiful lens. I have not has a better camera for birds and just sayin it does everything well. Just give it some time as the menu is deep...I did also want a back up camera and had a difficult time figuring out another camera. There wasn`t .The Sony A6 and A7 are too expensive.and you have to buy lens. Mine is set at 1200mm and gives me images I am proud of./ So my second camera is also a M4.

Worked with them for years. Find them honest and their grading of cameras is conserveitive...Wouldn't think twice about a purchase from new or used.
