Caught these ducks taking off from the water at the Merced Wildlife Preserve in Merced, CA.
Thank you for the kind comments.
Diving Pelican at Moss Landing, CA.
Caught this Great Egret taking his crayfish breakfast somewhere to eat.
Thank you for the kind comments. I think they only did a few airshows across the US. I think they have already headed back to France. They are good but, in my opinion, they don't fly as tight a formation as the Thunderbirds or Blue Angels. I'm partial to the Blue Angels since I was in the Navy. The Thunderbirds will be out here in about a week at Travis AFB. The only Blue Angel performance close to me is in San Francisco later in the year.
The California Capital Airshow in Sacramento, CA hosted the French version of the Thunderbirds and Blue Angels on April 15. Great airshow!
Thank you for the advice! I'll use it next time. The Consumnes River Preserve was closed due to flooding last weekend. With new storms already hitting us I think they will be closed through this coming weekend. Thanks again!
Thank you for the kind comments. I also like the wing position.
Thank you. They number in the thousands this time of year.
Sandhill Cranes at the Staten Island Preserve in CA.
Caught these two fighting for some reason. I took about 25 shots all together. After a few brief seconds they took off in opposite directions.
Took this at the World Center for Birds of Prey in Boise, ID in October. I caught the hawk just as he took off from a rock. With a lot of cropping and some help from Photoshop I salvaged this picture.
There are always otters at Moss Landing, about 30 miles north of Monterey. Moss Landing is right off Highway 1 just north of Castroville. There are several spots to see the otters. The ones I photographed were about 10-15 feet away from me. It's best to go at high tide.
Thank you for the kind comments. They are fun to watch. Very entertaining!
Watched this mother sea otter and her pup for about two hours. The pup would whine and she'd hand the food over. Taken at Moss Landing, CA.
