Took this at the World Center for Birds of Prey in Boise, ID in October. I caught the hawk just as he took off from a rock. With a lot of cropping and some help from Photoshop I salvaged this picture.
Weird they have a Harris as their nearest natural range is extreme southern Arizona and the Big Bend area of Texas.
Would really like to see the whole bird in the frame, but, you take what you get.

Loc: St. Louis burbs, but originally Chicago burbs
I don't think there is an "'s" in the name, but that's I guess being picky (I used to have an English teacher that, in the summer, his hobby was taking pictures of signs with improper punctuation). My sister worked at the World Bird Sanctuary in Valley Park, MO for about 12 years as a naturalist (local and traveling) and at her wedding had a Harris hawk fly in the rings from the back of the audience (it was a medieval-themed event). She took off her white gloves and put on one of those big leather things. They also released homing pigeons and a rehabilitated bird of some kind. The founder of WBS died a couple years ago and used to ride the float with Jack Hannah in the Rose (?) Bowl parade. She is now a St. Louis County park ranger.
