Admit it. You will buy another camera. What will it be?

It may be an extra/backup, or maybe you want a small compact camera for travel. Of course, you could be planning to update and replace your Main Shooter. I have my D750, Sony a6000, and Fuji X-T30, in addition so some older cameras, so I'm all set. But what about you?

I can't see buying another camera for some time at least. I have two OMD EM 1.2s with a fairly wide range of glass also have a lot of canon FD lenses for which I bought a couple of Sony body's and no II'm not a Sony fan I still like the rendition of my old Canon lenses. Since using them with digital cameras I noticed how sharp they really are. I use some of them with my m43 cameras to great effect. I only get tempted by new glass at the moment. I love my Olympus system can't see any reason to change not even for the OMD EM 1.3, maybe for the 1.4 or... Sorry I'm drooling over the Panasonic Lumix G Leica DG Vario-Summilux 10-25mm, F1.7 ASPH. Lens which I can't afford but it is going onto my wish list. Oh what a wonderful piece of glass.

I’m a Mac guy but a friend asked if a gaming pc desktop is a good choice for pp? It has a fast cpu but a video card rather than a graphics one.

I looked at gaming systems, they are OK but as others have said they put a lot of emfasis on refresh rate, which in it's self is not bad. I did think they also have inflated prices. I chose a business laptop from the Lenovo thinkpad range, fast quad processor and fast ram 32Gb and 500Gb SSD. Runs photoshop well. the only mistake I made was to get a 4k screen, you can't read the menus on photoshop without a magnifying glass. I mainly use it on a docking station with a 40 inch monitor. It's great I wouldn't go back to a tower system now. I have built maybe a dozen or more systems but now I get all I need in a nice compact system.

In the future, that won't mean a camera body. At 76, I'm thinking I could use a new body.

Here, here. The same here, I'v been thinking I could use a new body for some time. I'll think about the camera later.

We noticed well before thevirus tha tif we find something we like and start buying it every time we go, it gets removed from stock. We used to take a shopping list but now we take a suggestion list and hope to be able to make meals from what we got. This set us up for now, we are now used to not getting what we want.

I always scan my B&W prints and film in colour, sometimes serendipity steps in. I've had some great sepia results "right out of the box". Surprised me. Like already said you can do lots of things with all the channels.

Personally I'd say forget any with pop-out lenses I've had two panasonic and one faild to pop out because it got dirt in the mechanism in my pocket the other popped out in my pocket and got crushed, never worked again. I had a canon which produced disappointing results. My current pocket camera is an Olympus TG5 it's been soaking wet dropped banged around and still gives what's expected. I'd say checkout the Olympus TG range it's been good for me.

There is a problem with all auto focus lenses, that is what they focus on, especially where the scene is ambiguous. When it comes down to it, it is the photographers job to determine where the point of focus is and that means using manual focus on those occasions when auto gets it wrong. Back to the old days, I know it is not easy and takes practice. I have a full kit of canon FD lenses I am now able to use since I bought a Sony A7, getting back into real photography again. You can do it.

I ordered a "Shepard's pie" for dinner once expecting it to have lamb. It didn't, it had chunks of beef. I supposed they had to lie because they couldn't call it a "Cowpie".

Actually if it has beef in it, it is cottage pie, not shepard's pie which must have lamb. Oh yes "Cow pie" is from the "Dandy" kids comic I think.

My first system was Canon FD, a bunch of different bodies and an almost complete range of lenses. I was so pissed when Canon didn't take any considderation of there existing users. I spent thousands so I swore never to buy Canon ever again. When 4/3 came along I tried Lumix, it was OK but migrated to Olympus, the OMD EM5 and then the OMD EM 1.2 have more lenses than I realy need and they are all good. Use some of the Canon lenses on occasion too. Then Sony had a sale on their A7 and later on The A7R2 with an adapter I could now use all my Canon lenses mirror-less. Almost gives my back my old system. The Olympus will be my main system it is so much better all around and much lighter. You can use two systems happily, hell why not more if you like and can afford it. You may find you use one more than the other or one system for some things and the other for other things. I do. There are no hard and fast rules its your choice, make the best of it, have fun.

It's your choice, any of you. I used to shoot Tri-X out of preference for that film because of it's rendition in all lighting. I prefer available light photography but you must choose for your own style. I still like the Tri-X grain in Art photography, still can't quite match it in digital.

I don't know where you people are getting your temperature statistics, off the back of a political document or corn flake packet. The Global temperature is rising and so are sea levels but no one reading this will need to worry about it, we'll all be dead by the time it starts to get bad.

I've traveled all over Europe except Italy and Greece for years, had no problems. I would say you would be as safe at least as being in NYC. Simple rule don't take more than you can easily carry, don't use a purpose built photo bag, I used a travel bag, don't flash your gear. Start out with a small lens like what used to be the standard lens, keep the big telephotos in the bag. that way you will draw less attention.

In England we used to notice the foreign tourists, the Japanese with their two or three cameras hanging around their necks, the Americans with their long zooms and Germans with their Leica's or Zeiss. The Gaffer tape, not too much sounds like a good idea too. I used to mat-black paint out the name from the camera and the front of the lens. Had two benefits obscured the value ot the camera and I didn't get reflections when shooting through glass. Oh yes always be aware of your surroundings.

I really want to go to Europe and Africa. I have heard the horror stories about people getting there equipment stolen while out sightseeing. If I was out and someone cut my camera strap and rode off with my stiff I would have a heart attack chasing them down. So here's my question when travelling in distant lands how do you protect your gear. I have a lot of Gear. (GAS cost me my first wife.) so travelling with a point and shoot or just going to enjoy the scenery, Does not work for me.

I am open to suggestions.
Please help.

I wouldn't have a curved monitor, have a 65" 4k curved TV it is horrible unless you turn off every light in the room it spreads reflections across the entire screen. Got it for a quarter of the list price but now I wish I had a flat screen. I have a philips 40'' 4k monitor it's great except windows doesn't know how to scale menus and text, they become awfully small. Photos look good though.
