The Grand Canyon can have a lot of haze and it's really big.

Sedona you're in it, close to the red rocks, it's all around you.

I go there about 4 times a year, make it a day trip.

Sunsets can be very beautiful.

You're lucky to live close by. I live in Europe! But, I'll see Sedona next time.

Passed through Sedona on my way to the Grand Canyon, and strangely enough, the Sedona photos looked better than anything I captured at the Grand Canyon. But that's back in the day when I was shooting snapshots, so it doesn't count. Just wish I could go back!

That's not so unusual. The Grand Canyon is very impressive to look at, but is very difficult, as I found out, to capture in a camera.

The secret that they don't want you to know is that MOST people in MOST situations should just stick to their cellular phone cameras. Back in the 1960s, this would have been the Kodak 104 instamatic, point and shoot. The other part of this secret is that people who go and buy boatloads of gear at the camera store end up shooting about 3000 shots with them, never printing anything, and then selling them to people like me for cheap and THEN I use them like they were meant to be used at 30 cents on the dollar! If you aren't will to go and BUY the Magic Lantern book on your camera and read it through, cover to cover, you will NEVER know how to use and justify the purchase of 5K of camera (or anything else for that matter) gear.

That's a very insightful comment, and describes my experience to a "t". Just over 3000 and I'm selling it for less than half price. And, I bought more stuff for much more money!!

That's what my kids tell me but as much as I'd love to see that hallowed ground I don't believe I ever will.

I must pass along an experience. I lived for many years in South Dakota. At one point I traveled to the Little Big Horn.
There's a memorial there of course and seeing that place, seeing the stones all laid out where soldiers fell made the hair on the back on my neck stand up and dance. That was a long time ago but a memory I won't forget. I have the feeling the same would happen to me at Gettysburg.

But thanks for the encouragement.

I'm hoping to see the Little Big Horn memorial in May!! It sounds interesting, to say the least.

Nice photos... I'd love to see more.

Sounds like great value to me. I bought a body from a similar European site for hundreds less than the list price. And, I got a two-year full warranty, compared to a 3-month buying direct from the manufacturer.

The Civil War was such a disaster. One of my daughters lives near Antietam, where all those thousands (27,000?) died in a single day. What a waste. But, great pictures.

I stayed there once for a conference, but it wasn't Christmas. It's an incredible complex. I tried to capture some of it with a compact camera, and failed miserably. You did a good job!
