When I use LR5 and attempt to "Edit In" PSCC for a raw image, I no longer get the dialogue asking me what type of copy I want to make for PSCC. It simply loads the original raw image into PSCC without making a copy in LR. The dialogue does appear when the image is a Tiff or Jpeg. I'm guessing that there's a disconnect between LR5 and ACR.

Any help?

Thoughts yes, comments not yet.

The image shown is a result of me right clicking on an image in the Library. When you select "Edit in", do you always get the side menu - with Photoshop cc as first item?

yes...also...to clarify..only have problem when trying to edit a raw image...with tiff etc. I still do get the edit in dialogue

I'm experiencing the same problem...have reset all warnings and problem persists. This may have to do with recent update to ACR since it seems like a new problem for me. Will try to check with Adobe.

Did some further investigation on this....the problem only exists when trying to Edit a non-raw image with the Edit In function LR5. When using Edit In with a Tiff file I get the dialogue box I used to always get asking what type of copy I want edited in PS.

This suggests to me that the problem lies with a mismatch between LR and ACR since I believe that ACR is used by LR in editing a raw file in PS.

Any comments or thoughts?

I think that your preference pre-sets have been corrupted and the cure is to rebuild.

If you have created loads of pre-sets, this rebuild can be a bit of a nuisance, but if you are working without pre-sets, it is not so much of a problem.

Here is a link to the instructions which also tells about the ramifications of the rebuild. Read it carefully, and follow it without taking shortcuts.

http://www.lightroomforums.net/showthread.php?14226-Resetting-(or-Trashing-)-the-Lightroom-Preferences-file

If you decide against the rebuild there is another way, that is to create a new pre-set for the Edit in . . . If you would rather try this and don't know how, let me know and I will take you through it.

It says: Edit in Adobe Photoshop CS5

I am interested to hear more on this since I'm experiencing the same issue using LR5 and PS CC. Have you asked Adobe?

Thanks...this definitely helps understand this. So, if I compared the same specific area of an image between a DX and FX sensor there would be no actual magnification of that area. It only appears magnified because of the cropping. Correct?

I realize that my camera has a 1.5 factor that makes the 200mm setting on my 18-200 lens act as a 300mm equivalent.
Question: Does that mean that I get the same magnification in the image as if I used a 300mm lens? Or, would the image appear closer if I actually did use a 300mm lens?

Just installed PSE12 (a few weeks ago) and it works fine and tried to get my installed Topaz bundle to show in PSE. Topaz does not show under filters. Have googled and tried several methods shown. Still no luck. Got an answer for me - I'd appreciate it.

Topaz shows under PROGRAMS and I have created a desktop shortcut but Topaz is not a stand alone program it must be part of something like PSE or CC#

Check out Carbonite for automatic online storage and backup...sign up, pay the subscription amount (reasonable IMHO)...then forget it unless you need to restore your files

I'm crushed as all of my photos, which were stored on my external hard drive, sea gate, may be lost. My sea gate stopped working, so my hubby brought it to a computer repair shop to see if the data can be obtained. Yes, I had all of my photos stored on it, and if it can't be gotten, then I've lost them all. :-( My question is "what would you recommend me putting my photos on as a back up"? I will get another external hard drive, but would like to also store my photos elsewhere. (Oh, I don't store them on my computer's hard drive as it would take up too much space.) I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they can be retrieved. I welcome all input.

I have been looking at a lot of photographs trying to study what people think are good photos, and why they like them. I have seen some (not necessarily on here), that people seem to like and leave favorable comments on, that to me look so over PP'd that they look unnatural and kind of fake for lack of a better definition. I can see doing some work to brighten and add contrast to make the photo look more like the actual scene. What do you think, is it better to take a photo of what you see, or take a photo for what you can turn it into? Should it look like a photo, or a processed image.

IMHO, it all depends on how you view yourself and what motivates you to be a photographer. For me, I view myself as an artist who happens to use photographic images as my medium. I am always adding my vision and interpretation to an image. My goal is never simply to recreate a so-called "realistic representation" of a scene. That's my two cents.

After installing OS10.9 on my Mac, and have PSE 11 active in the Dock, whenever I attempt to open an image by selecting "Open In" from outside of Pse, a new instance of PSE 11 opens to accept the image. In other words, the currently open instance of PSE is not recognized, so I wind up with two open versions of PSE. Any thoughts? Is anyone experiencing this problem?

For those of you who use topaz software for lightroom, which one of them do you find most useful or use most of the time, adjust, clarity, detail, denoise etc? Thanks!! And could you tell me what you use the particular software for:For example, to make a landscape pop etc.

I only have one Topaz plugin and that is the new Restyle. I use it on every image just to get ideas on what effects are possible. I'm always pleasantly surprised. It's a real bargain at the current $29 cost.
