I just went through this a few months ago for my 24 - 70 Nikon. I kept getting vignetting at wide angles. The solution turned out not to be the thinnest filter but to step up to a larger filter size. I ended up with a Nikon Polarizer quite a bit larger in diameter than the lens. works great

that's the answer I was looking for. Someone with actual, hands on experience with both lenses.

Nikon lists two 18 - 300 Dx zoom lenses. Both have same f values but one is much more expensive and more than 50% heavier. It's also 25% longer (physically) From the rest of the technical data on the web page they're the same. What makes one longer, heavier and a lot more expensive ?

my intent is to replace a camera that I use in very hostile environments. If you've spent time deep sea fishing or on a hunting expedition 1000 miles from home you would know why I want to supplement my equipment when I switch out my "knock around" camera and lens with something a little newer. The 7100 will become my replacement for the 7000 and the 7500 for the 7100. I guess the real debate is if there is a reason not to change to the 18 - 300 lens. weight issues...?

Time for my granddaughter to get into photography ( on yearbook staff in high school) I'm going to give her my Nikon D7000 w/ 18 to 140 Nikon lens. Problem, what to replace it with ? I already have the D800 I use primarily for scenics and a D7100 w/ 80 - 400 for wildlife. The D7000 was my out in the woods hunting or out on the water fishing camera. I'm thinking of the D7500 w/ either an 18 - 140 or an 18 - 300. Thoughts ? from anyone with either combination of a better suggestion ? thanks

I use a B+W CPL 77mm on my 24-70 Nikkor 2.8 without any problem. There may be something else going on. Good idea not to stack with a UV tho. Do you use a lens hood? If so, I suggest you try it without the hood on and see if that helps.

I don't use the filter with a lens hood. I wouldn't be able to adjust it if I did

as I wrote, I don't stack filters. I can't turn the polarizer if I have the lens hood on. I can see the fall off in the corners through the viewfinder. I'll try the step rings and larger filter, thanks for the source information

I can't seem to find a polarizer that doesn't vignette the edges of the picture when using the wide angle range on my Nikor 24-70 lens. I had a tiffin filter and recently purchased a B+W filter which didn't solve my problem I removed the UV filter first to keep the filter as thin as possible. The filter size is 77mm and I can't locate a step up ring to something larger or a larger filter. Any other suggestions ? I know I can crop out the center of the image and I am using a D800 but I have a habit of cropping pretty tight in the viewfinder. HELP

are you aware that in 1876 and again in 1976 the US passed laws making the metric system the official measurement system in the US.

Go in Jan or Feb and see all the humpback whales around Maui and sunrise at the top of the volcano is a must see, as well as the road to Hana .... That's just a taste of one of the Islands. Do a little research and you'll see the other 48 are nothing like Hawaii. Try a cruise around all the islands and get a taste , then spend more time on the ones you want to experience more of.. I've been 5 or 6 times and can't wait to go back

I use an Epson Artisan 837 printer with the appropriate inks. Recently prints that look great, a few days later the shadows or black areas of the photo start to change to red. The photos aren't in direct sunlight but are sitting on my kitchen counter which receives very good indirect light. Any ideas as to the cause ?

I don't think the size of the cards is as critical as the speed. I shoot Nikon D800, D7100 and D7000, each with a different lens set up to avoid changing lenses and introducing dust into the vacation equation. All photos in RAW. I try not to put more than 100 shots on a card for two reasons, 1 I don't want all my eggs in one basket as they say, but secondly, It takes a lot longer to download a mega card onto my computer as opposed to downloading my shots in batches to work on

My wife and I are taking our yearly vacation to Acadia National Park at the end of June. We were then thinking of going north to see the Bay of Fundy. We've never been there but are looking for good spots to see the tides and see the other photo opportunities in the area. Any tips ?
