After 25 years of using PCs I've been looking at buying a MAC (best quality hardware). Can I delete the Mac OS and just use Windows 10 for all my programs (no dual boot)
If you go to Acadia (you should) don't miss the Schoodic Point portion of the park (not on Mount Desert Island). There are websights that make foliage prediction which can vary a few weeks based on weather. We spend summers in Belfast ME. Weather is a big factor in "leaf peeping".
I'm having some intermittent issues with my current laptop hard drive and I'm thinking about installing a clean new SSD. If I can, I'd like to download Windows 10 onto the new drive without cloning in any of the errors or other junk from my old drive. AAny thoughts or suggestions?
I have a mini iPad (64 gb) that is smaller and lighter than a tablet or notebook. I use it for emails and via the camera adapter ($30) to load my photos for backup. It will store RAW and display them as jpeg for review on the screen.
I've been trying to get a really good Kingfisher capture for years. Yours is the the best I've ever seen!
I carry an ipad mini and use it for emails, etc when I have wifi available. I got one with 64GB of memory and use the Apple camera connector to download my RAW files from the D800 as a backup. It stores them as RAw and shows a jpeg on the screen that can be tweaked with the edit function so I get a better view of what I have captured. It works for me.
Gorgeous shots. I've worked at trying to capture them and the reasons given for difficulty are ALL true. I congratulate you on a genuine achievemnet.

Lens now sold to a fellow UHH. Thanks
Yes, I originally bought it to use with my D7000, where it was perfect. I bought the D800 knowing the lens was Dx only, which I am now selling the lens.
Used twice, essentially a new item, I bought a D800 and can't use it. Complete with Nikon soft pouch, HB 37 hood and front and rear lens caps. US model bought from B & H. $390 plus shipping cost to US address.
It is a Red Dot gun sight. I have one that I use for BIF on my Nikon 80-400 and it does the job. The mount for it is a Weaver adapter. You can get them at most gun shops (I bought mine on-line from Midway) You can get all of the pieces you need for about $65. I tried to mount it on the D800 hot shoe but it wasn't rigid enough to stay in adjustment. I drilled and tapped the top of the L mount for the tripod and that did it. The sight has elevation and windage adjustment that can be locked in place. Set it up on the tripod and center the camera eyepiece with the lens zoomed to maximum, then click the gun sight adjustment so that the red dot is '"on" the same spot. I usually use it handle held, There is no parallax so your eye position doesn't matter. Just look through the glass at he rear and shoot when the red dot is on the subject. Since you are not looking through a magnified image it is easy spot the bird and watch it as it moves. I trip the shutter when it is in the right spot. I don't use the camera eyepiece at all.
I spent 40 years working with Defense and watching the claims for fantastic performance by Soviet weapons systems. They lost and when we got our hands on some of that "great" weaponry it was mostly hype to sell congress on the idea that we needed to buy "better".
The airplane is just one small part of the weapons system. The F15 creamed the Syrian Air Force in the last war with Israel because it had a 65 mile range radar and missile and the Syrian Migs had a 24 m range weapons system. The Israel / Syrian "kill" ratio was 83 to 1 because most of the Syrians were knocked out before they knew they were being attacked. Each wartime scenario is different.
