Thanks, He was 5 feet away & lighting was perfect.
This is another shot from that same morning.
You get lucky ocassionally.
After a heavy rain I spotted this baby Finch sunning on the hedges outside my office window. It was a great opportunity to get some great shots. F 11-ISO 800-1/125-
300mm. Canon 60D with Tamron 70-300.Appreciate any feedback on this shot.
Thanks all.
With your help I was able to activate flash in manual mode.
I put camera in auto indoors an fired a shot,Flash pops up.
Now I can fill flash. My problem was to get the flash to pop up. I know this sounds stupid but I am reading & learning.
The best & quickest is to have hands on help which I will pursue.(Camera School) With equipment I sell the manual never comes out of the sealed envelope. I am used to phone calls with basic questions like how do I boot it up?
Anyone know what bird this is?
I have the manual. What puzzled me was that the flash option did not display until I changed the setting from the auto settings & found it. That may sound dumb on my part but surely I'm not the only one to make this mistake. Yes I did read the flash section of the manual but still new to camera. I also watched the video that came with it too.
Why can't flash appear in any auto setting? I would think that you would still benefit in some of the auto settings as well.
I shot some on auto & sport mode about 10 feet away. When I cropped them they looked granny. of course no flash.
Humingbird
Thank you. I discovered during my tripod experiment that I will need a wide angle lens. The 75/300 Tamron will not focus closer than about 6 ft. I can set up a few feet from humingbird feeder. Had some great shots but out of focus.
Still in the never ending learning curve.
How do I force the camera to flash.
I want fill in flash but to much light for auto flash.
Thanks,
I returned the Canon 60 D to Costco because I didn't like the Canon 28-200 lens. I repurchased the 60D with the Tamron. I was fortunate to buy from a local photo shop.
The sales lady taught me more during the purchase than the video or the forum.I did purchase a remote clicker & a quality lens protector. I will probably go to their photo class. just when I think I have a good shot I look on the forum & understand I have a lot to learn. But gettin there.
I really appreciate the feed back.
Thank you for the suggestion. I used the auto mode that doesn't fire flash. Hand held thru window. I will move outside & use tripod & Turn off all auto features on lens.
After seeing the hummer pictures on the forum I have a long way to go. I just purchased the Tamron SP 70-300 zoom & really like it.
WOW! I just posted my humingbird photo & yours make mine look like real lame. Beautiful photo.
I have a Canon 60 D. I returned the canon kit to Costco. I repurchased the Canon 60D locally (Atlanta Ga.) at Showcase & upgraded from Canon 28-200MM to Tamron 70-300 MM F/4-5.6. I bought Photo Shop 10 for $50.00.
I hope this will improve my photography. This is with my new system.
I have the same equipment & shoot around 6:PM in shade.
It seems forever for my shutter to fire. I miss a lot of shots waiting on shutter in sports mode. Any suggestions?
I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer. Please dumb down. I can send a link to file & have someone open it? Do they have access to anything else. I sell mailing equipment & have to contend with Comcast max of 10 meg.
Thank you for the info.
