I use a lot of FOMA films rebadged as Arista EDU Ultra (Freestyle Photo). I usually shoot in 135 or in sheet film. The 200 doesn't like the film backs in my Mamiya RB 67, so I use either Ilford FP4+ or HP5+ in it.

I absolutely love in in sheet film (4x5).

I've shot a number of photos with Arista EDU 100 in small format (135).

My favorite 4x5 film is the Arista EDU 200 film. I shoot at box speed, developed in XTOL in JOBO per published times.

Stated as "combo". But, nothing listed except "D500" in Title.

Post says "D500 combo", but nothing stated as to what is in the "combo". Smells like a scam to me.

I shoot film because it has been a childhood dream. I'm almost 66 yrs. old now. I recall at the age of 3 or 4 having been fascinated at the traveling portrait photographer's camera. Looking back, I believe that it was an 8x10.

He would travel from rural town to rural town, taking portraits and delivering prints a few weeks later on his next trip through the area. He would set up in the lobby of the Grand Hotel in Howard City, MI across the street from the Pennsylvania/Pere Marquette Railroad depot.

Realizing my fascination with his camera, on one trip through town, he gave me a roll film camera with instructions on how to load the film and one roll of Kodak film. My Mom purchased a couple additional rolls of Kodak film. I went through those three rolls of film in less than a week.

I walked three miles to town to drop them off at the drug store to be sent out for development. Upon receipt of photographic prints and the negatives, my mother was proud. Given the cost, my father stated: "You can shoot all the pictures that you want with that camera, but you can't have any more film."

I never squeezed a shutter button with my index finger for over 50 years.

Dad's gone now, but at 66 years of age in our new to us house: the 4th bedroom adjoining the laundry room plumbing is going to be a darkroom with a Beselar 23CII set up for 35mm, a Beselar 23XII w/color head set up for medium format and a Beselar CB7 set up for 4x5.

With the JOBO CPE2+, I have less than $500 invested in the darkroom. About the same in cameras/lenses.

Take THAT Dad!!!

I can't compare to Ed's experience. However, having served as an apprentice (second, third, fourth and "hold this reflector" shooter), I love shooting weddings.

I recall the same feelings after having shot my first solo wedding: "Never Again!"

My Mentor, Bob Kysor had me help as second shooter on multiple weddings. I loved it. I was his second, I got the candids, the venue, the "behind the scenes" shots. I loved it! I loved the families, the families melding together, realizing that the only other time that these same folks would come together would be for someone's funeral made this a very joyous time for me.

I recall one wedding the I was forced into becoming the only photographer when tornadoes kept the main photographer hunkered in her basement. The father/step daughter dance turned into the father/step daughter/step sister dance at the request of the bride.

It was difficult focusing with tears streaming down your face. Immediately afterward, I was in the kitchen with the Bride/Step Daughter, Daughter, Mother/Step Mother, Step father/Father and Step Sister bawling our eyes out!

I feel like I become part of the family when I shoot weddings. I pour my heart and soul into it. They feel it.

One time as a second shooter, I was able to capture during the Father/Daughter dance the Father's tear midway from his eye and the Bride's shoulder. I was told that the Bride loved it.

Each and every wedding is special. It is one of a kind. I encourage you to reconsider your decision. Look for second shooter opportunities. They are out there. Look at someone whose work and more importantly their business practices that you might find compatible to work with. Reach out to see if they are open to mentor/teach you. You have a good eye. Second shooting can be great! Quite honestly, I'd rather be a second shooter than be primary. There is much more creative freedom, the wedding experience is fantastic and you get paid for it.

My advice is to not build it so well and strong that it's hard to dismantle once you decide it's not worth the time and expense. I've got sinks, an enlarger, film and print washers, trays, developing hardware, trays up to 16x20, print drying racks, light table, timers, unsharp masking equipment, exhaust fan, etc, etc, for 35mm to 4x5 and I can't give it away so far.

I sincerely wish that you were closer to Michigan!

I share your feelings. There are a few members I can name in that category but won't. There are those that have a trolling instigating style that eventually becomes combative and insulting. I will never understand why people having a shared interest in photography have to be rude , nasty and juvenile.

That is precisely why I don't post much, even here. Like BK, I usually feel like I don't measure up to the experience level, vision and quality that others posses.

Having said that: in this section, most are extremely encouraging, helpful and if asked will offer very helpful criticism. Two (actually three) key words: "if asked" and "helpful."

I have not read through all of the posts here on the main forum. I’m fairly certain that most are at the very least, negative.

May I suggest that you post this in the wedding photography forum, right here on UHH?

Great Shots! It's always about being in the right place, right time and pray for a little luck. Your prayer was answered. I love the shots.

I forgot to add, the wedding sited had that stipulation of no flash during the ceremony.

Regarding shooting with Bob: unfortunately, Covid put all that down. Last that I spoke with Bob, he closed down his business. Covid also hit his daughter's wedding venue business hard. I've only done one wedding since November 2019, and that was a freebie for a family member. It was our wedding gift to them.
