Thank You for posting this. I've sung this song every third of June since 1967. Also, in 1998 I was singing it as I crossed the "rebuilt" Tallahatchie Bridge. I know it doesn't mean anything to most but I am proud of myself for my tribute to Bobby Gentry.
Come check out the shelter in GreenEville.
I was given a similar story about 50 years ago by a Navy Corpsman. He told me to use my newborn son as an example I received many laughs as I spun the tale of his weighing 12 and a quarter pounds at birth and only 7lbs and 8 oz three days later. Sometimes, I feel I must run when I answer their question, "That's terrible, what happened?" and I respond with we had him circumcised. Now it is a family tradition. My son used it with his two boys and I am expecting them to use it for their off=spring as well. Yes the joke is "For Men Only"
Google it I believe that is where it was recorded. A restaurant in New York.
I checked the dates of the publications and one article is almost three years old and the other was published a few days ago.
This has always been my favorite. Thanks for posting.
Kildeer.....the second picture shows the distraction behavior that they display when you are close to their nest. They lure preditors away by faking a broken wing.

I wonder if the government phasing out the incandescent bulbs has anything to do with the growth of LED bulbs. Just saying.
Just across the mountains in Tennessee, the quilt squares are considered as a symbol of our mountain heritage and often are reproductions of a "family" quilt handed down through the generations. We call it a "Quilt trail" as maps are created to follow and see all the artwork. I have heard the story of quilts being made into maps so slaves could learn the way north ( there is even a north star pattern) but the current and local displays in Tn and NC are presented as proud remembrances of our mountain heritage without the insertion of race. Stop by a barn and ask the owner about the artwork and find out for yourself.

Ah.....my dear misinformed friend you need to reread my post. I equated owners/lovers of Pit Bulls as thrill seekers and risk takers like the people who love serial killers and stated that it was difficult to understand their unlimited love. I did not attack the breed. No apology necessary and I forgive you for attacking my character and intelligence. Oh, might I mention that my daughter suffered a dog attack while walking to our door when she was eight. Hopefully you never have to go through the trauma of being viciously attacked by one of your "best friends" Good night and have a Merry Christmas.
Thank you for the psychological evaluation. Where do I send the payment. BTY you just got Trolled.
I've heard both sides of the Pit Bull issue and I think I have finally come to this conclusion. Pit Bull lovers are in the same category as people who fall in love with serial killers. They themselves are a different breed of human. A person who fears Pit Bulls and serial killers will never understand their limitless love.
"No mushroom presents more of an enigma than the fly agaric, Amanita muscaria. It is the most recognizable mushroom on the planet, and is widely known as the hallucinatory shroom responsible for Alices trip into Wonderland and quite possibly our beloved images of a red-suited Santa Claus and his flying reindeer."
