I bought a refurbished Dell computer, no monitor for about $240.00. It is the fastest computer I ever owned.
1TB hard drive and 16GB ram. Model: OptiPlex 7010 desktop. There are different configurations available.

Bought mine on ebay.

I use precision inks for my Canon pro 100 for years.

No problems.

I have the Pluto system.

Managed to get some decent photos in a couple of hours.

I noticed that short delays are not repeatable. So I used delays greater then 100ms.

Depth of field focus it a problem. Next time I am going to use F11 and strobe light at max output (manual mode). Shutter 1/200.

I will use ISO to get the proper exposure.

Hi Tom,

I have done some splash pictures too, but without color.

How did you get the color?

No Fan, but vent holes.

Maybe I can mount a fan at the vent holes.

I'll check it out

Thanks for all your help

That's what I do. You can configure to set alarms and actions. I have it display temps and health on the desktop.
Configuration->Status Window->Display information on Desktop

You can play around with the X and Y values to position as you like.

You can set alerts:
Confirmation->Alerts
and actions for various situations

Configuration->Thresholds
to set your own temperature thresholds

I have it sound a repeating audible alert if temperature is above 110 and shutdown if above 122. That way, even if I'm not around, if HDD'S get too hot, they won't cook.
That's what I do. You can configure to set alarms ... (show quote)

This HDD is running at 122 F which sounds way to high. My HDD's in other computers run at 100 F.
so I need to check this out and setup the alarms.

This is the first time I ran Hard Disk Sentinel so I have no history to look at.

I guess you are suggesting I monitor the drive.

I just ran Hard disk sentinel on my system drive.

It reported that my hard disk had to many reallocated sectors (163) an may start to loose data.

Does this only apply to my data, but not the system tracks?

I want to thank everyone for their input.

I learned a lot. I like the idea of using an external enclosure with a fan.

My approach with the current costs is to get two. Then, every week or more I swap them out.

Now, I just back up to them, so that works. I run a little tool that copies all images, settings and database to the external drive. That gives me a point in time backup.

The spare drive then goes somewhere else (like work). Then I have two drives with one somewhere else.

You didn't say what you want them for, so maybe I'm suggesting something that isn't useful.

I want to back up my images. You idea sounds like a way to go.

I am looking for some advice on an external hard drive with a capacity of 2 tb.

I had a bent pin on my 5D III too. It cost me $270.00 plus shipping to have canon do the repair.

If you try to do the repair with the lead pencil method and pin breaks nothing loss it still will need to be send it to Canon.

If the pin is just out of alignment it can be straightened My pin was bent over flat down.

Cheers,
Connie

I am liking these pictures from Jim Tonne, taken with film, because they have a warm and soft look. Very femmine.
