Absorbing Sun- Round Two - Set
Feb 12, 2019 17:15:29   #
Jim Tonne

I previously posted a sorta decent photo of a lass enjoying the sun while perched on a large rock at the beach. While going through my stash of negatives today (once again) I stumbled on that frame and also some others taken immediately before or after. The stash, these are all Plus-X, was marked July 1979. What baffles me is how awful was the quality (grey scale, especially) of the previously-posted version. Here we see the set of three starting with the original. I rescanned these today and went over them to remove scratches and so on. They seem nice to me. Pleasant lass.

I like all the poses and composition; wonderful model too. 3rd could use the same amount of contrast as the first.

Jim, what impresses me about most of your work is the simplicity. No need for “accessories” that often detract from, rather than adorn, the main subject. You really exemplify that less is more.

Wow! I am reminded that Plus-X was my favorite B&W film, and the tonality is superb. The only thing better would be Verichrome Pan. But that was dead before digital was a factor.

The poses, your use of the light, the lines make all quite eye pleasing.

nice pictures, think in retrospect and allowing for the reduced quality UHH image, a wider aperture to narrow the depth of field and 'separate' the model from the background might have improved the shot?

What would the OP do different if they had a time machine and could go back to that day (with the original equipment of course)?

Lovely photos and model. I would like to see more of her, soon.

I am liking these pictures from Jim Tonne, taken with film, because they have a warm and soft look. Very femmine.
