I had never used auto ISO, as I always wanted to have the control. I have started using it, with very good results on the D800. With a max ISO set for 3200 (or even higher) I find I am able to concentrate on the aperture, shutter combinations I want and the auto ISO helps to make that work. You might find it worth looking at.

Currently I have a Nikon D200 I only have an interest in photography and not video. I understand that my upgrade in Nikon just photography is the D300. Is this correct or is there another model that is better in Nikon ?

I have a used D300 listed in the classified section. As you see there is a number of options. If you decide on the D300 you might want to take a look, It will be there until Thursday, after that I will list it on Ebay.

Several years ago, I bought the Tamron 18-270 to take with me on a cruise. I could not get a sharp image on my D300,
immediately exchanged it for a Sigma 18-200 and had no problem after that> I now have two of the Sigma, but will be selling one when I sell my D300.

Please do some research about Romneycare before using it as a model for the country. It has helped provide insurance for some, there are many that still find a way to avoid it and costs have escalated so we (the few remaining taxpayers) cant afford to support it!

Hi Al McPhee

Before choosing a bridge camera, I suggest you look at the online reviews. Some of the experts prefer the Panasonic FZ200 to the Canon SX50. The FZ200 has a lens made to Leica specification. If you need to get to a focal length of 1000mm, Panasonic supply an extension tube and a 1.4 x converter. I have a 1.4 x converter and extension tube for my FZ100, and if I can get the shutter speed up to 1/100 second or better, then the "antishake" (Panasonic call it OIS which is short for Optical Image Stabilization) permits me to get sharp pictures handheld at 1000 mm. Moreover the FZ200 gives you f2.8 across the entire range.

Good luck & good shooting!

How about the new Panasonic the Lumix DMC-FZ70, a 16.1MP compact superzoom with a 60x optical zoom. Spanning the equivalent of 20-1200mm it's the largest zoom lens available in a consumer compact

Are you using one of these? How is IQ?

Understood, but as the years go by it is getting more difficult for me to see the VF as good as the LCD, plus I can take ground level shots without having to lay down and then take 10 minutes getting back up!!

I am sure I will get used to it and use it more than I think I will.
Thanks

It has an Electronic Viewfinder as well as the great LCD that allows a lot more options.

Thanks, the reticulated LCD looks good, but I still count on the viewfinder.
