So many readers of this forum have believed Republican lies about ObamaCare that they will be surprised to learn it is working. It is already immense popular with those who have it. Republicans have been trying to kill it before it becomes fully operational, because that's when their worst nightmares will come true. It will be fully in effect.

Can you convincingly argue that the three basic premises of OabamaCare are bad ? I doubt it.

Paul Krugman has written a succinct piece about what Republicans fear the most -- that ObamaCare, modeled after Romney's Massachusetts health care plan, is growing more and more popular, is working well, and will soon become even much more popular as it comes fully into effect.

Matt Desmond and his blog are not a very credible source. He is a left wing zealot with no ability to present both sides of any issue.

Ugh... Paul Krugman, the Nobel Laureate who trashed his economics career to become a political propaganda columnist for the New York Times, that guy would sell his mother for a moment in the spotlight, I don't know how anybody can take him seriously. Yes, his fluff piece highlights the positive aspects of Obamacare, but he does not address the problems that the program is facing nor does he talk about the program not achieving its goal of providing insurance to the 10's of millions who will remain uninsured, the cost of the program as projected by the CBO, nor does he address what is becoming more and more apparent that the youth of this country will probably not participate in the numbers needed to keep the costs inline with the projections. The Dems took ObamaCare much to far, their stated goal was to help the uninsured in this country and they basically took over healthcare in its totality. It is polling worse with the American people than it was during the political fight that raged during its development, and worse than it did in 2010 when the republican house was swept in. We have yet to see the impact that Obamacare will have with doctors, I know that coding used to process treatment and claims has gone from about 14,000 codes to 140,000 codes, only the government could come up with crap like this, now imagine if you are the doctor trying to process your claims, do you really want to be paying the additional overhead to administer this nightmare of paperwork while collecting less for your services? And what has the gubberment done in the way of tort reform, when are we going to curtail the parasitic legal profession?

Time will tell how good or bad the program is, not Paul Krugman

A second thought. If Krugman is so interested in politicians lying to us why does he not go after the more obvious and blatant lies of the president, have we not forgotten his claims of what sequestration would do to our economy and the deep reaching social impact it would have? Despite his best efforts to punish the American people for his own foolish program the only thing that I can point to is the fact that he will no longer allow children visit the people's house. It sure does not keep him off of Air Force One as he flies around the country this week giving his same old tired out speech chalked full of new lies, such as "Phony Scandals". Does he really believe us to be so stupid as to believe that if he simply tells us that the scandals are phony that will make it so? Or is he convinced that it is his own base that is so brain dead that they can be so easily swayed and that is good enough for him... Do we forget that he said that he would investigate and bring those who killed our ambassador to justice, well guess what, we have eyes on those people and our feckless president won't make the call. Do we forget that he lied to us for weeks as to the reason that event occurred? Do we simply dismiss the IRS scandal that has proven to reach into DC and the chief counsel that he himself appointed to the IRS, did he himself not say that this was an intolerable situation? Now it is a phony scandal! How about the tapping of 100 AP reporters phone lines and naming a journalist as a co-conspirator which the DOJ had no intention of ever prosecuting so that they could tap his business and personal communications including phones and email. Is this just a phony scandal too?

This president and his administration spits on our constitution, lies to the American public's face and then tells you that it just did not happen, that it is all phony republican propaganda!

I say BS this president is a liar and he is at his best when he reverts to his community organizing roots as he sets the American people apart from one another by appealing to individual tribes in our society while sending the message to them that his detractors are against them, that he is the one who is fighting for them and it is BS, he is fighting for his power base and nothing else. Make no mistake, this president has no economic plan and has resigned himself to America's decline, his biggest message other than phony scandals in his economic speech was about economic equality, not economic prosperity, he has no plan or vision for real growth in our economy as his view is that government is responsible for our economic growth because his whole life experience has be government centered. He has no understanding of the private economy nor how to fuel the engine that runs it. I am so disappointed in this president and in the voters who were foolish enough to give him his second term.

Really ?
If it were as immensly popular as you claim , the entire population would be standing in line demanding to be included. NOW.

Instead, why does Obama have to FORCE us BY LAW , and THREATS OF FINES to join ?

And if the entire Nation is so deliriously happy with it why are the Democrats so worried about getting kicked out of office next year that Obama was forced to postpone implementation of this abortion until AFTER the ELECTIONS in November 2014?

Let's not forget the impact on small business and their employees either. Recently saw an interview of a restaurant owner who had 5 locations, when he did the math he realized that the new law would cost $78,000 more than he made in profits last year as a result he was forced to sell 3 of his locations. Not all businesses are willing to sell, and they simply force their employees into part-time work which is a nightmare for both the employer and the employee.... The majority of people working in restaurants tend to be younger and healthy and more interested in their paycheck than in their health insurance. This law as written has damaging consequences and the forced participation can be viewed the same as a tax, what is the difference in the government forcing a private concern to spend money or the government collecting the money first and then spending it... I really see no difference other than the fact that most people don't understand that the government just levied a huge tax often economically unworkable tax on small business.

I guess this is how President Obama is equalizing opportunity in our country, forcing small business persons to sell what they have built for themselves and their families...

There is much more to the ACA than Paulie Krugman is willing to write about.

A simple, two-part answer: 1) It isn't fuly implemented yet; and 2) They already have something as good, so they don't need to switch. Lots of people who already have health care coverage won't switch. The same coverage they have will simply include more and better features.

It would seem that not all of congress members agree with your assessment.

So why are the unions who so strongly supported it asking for waivers to exempt them from it? Why should it be imposed on the rest of us and those who politically advocated for the program think that they should be exempted from the program that they worked so hard for? In their recent letter to the democratic leadership labor decribes Obamacare as damaging to not only their membership but to millions of American workers across the country....

Richard, it is far to early for Krugman or anyone else to be singing the praises of Obamacare.

You can read the Union letter here.

Yes, it particular represents a difficult situation for members of Congress, doesn't it ? Their need to evaluate it from a political point of view is awkward, isn't it ? But in my evaluation, I am really not worried about the members of Congress. Krugman points out very succinctly why it represents a real advance for average people. There are a lot more of them than their are members of Congress.

When all the talk and posturing are over, the three principles ObamaCare is based on will have a profoundly beneficial effect on the American people, and will save many lives and improve the quality of other. It is necessary to have a long-range view of ObamaCare. I suppose you could find reasons to complain about social security, too, but it keeps many, many people alive and adds a snippet of quality (enough money for food AND medicine) to their lives. ObamaCare, like it or not, will be seen as one of the most important government programs ever to be put in place, and will right up there in popularity with social security. You cannot talk your way past that fact. Stop listening to the Republican disinformation machine.
