There may well be an issue with the reading of the raw files, but... when you switch from Raw & Jpeg to Raw, or vice versa, the camera automatically creates a second folder. I'd use check to see that you are uploading both folders.

Sounds like you've gotten some good advise here. I second the majority of it.
I've had the 24-105 L since it first actually became available in the stores--it has lasted thru the normal life of a 5d, and a 5d Mk II that is well on its way to exhaustion. It's a great lens and the one that I use for over 90% on my shooting. I highly recommend it!

Are you sure you have pics recorded on the card? If the camera and the computer both say the card is empty, then, the card must be empty!

I formatted the card in my camera when I first got it and put it in my camera. I would take the pic and look at them but when the screen turned black and went back to look at them again it said it was empty

All the other good advise aside...what you said here is that it is either a bad card, or a problem with the camera. If it does the same thing with another card, I'd have the camera checked at a service center.

I do not intend to keep the photos for an extended period of time. What I want to do is make up a album of the Toys For Tots campaign that I take photos for. The purpose is to use the album of last years event to show prospective merchants what it is we do. I am trying to make it as inexpensively as possibe because I will propbably need 4-5 albums. However, I want it to look acceptable.

I'd suggest that you look into having the printing/binding done by one of the press print companies...the quality of the album will be more professional, and probably less expensive than printing yourself. I've used Adorama, ACI, and Bay Photo and they all come in cheaper than I can buy the paper and ink...especially the ink...

I would not even consider the tamron 18-270 because there is too wide a gap between the wide angle and telephoto to get really sharp images.

If you need a wide angle use your smaller lenses and go for something that will give you at least 400MM for your other wildlife shots. I like others have the Canon 100-400 on my 5D full frame and like it very much.

When I want to take scenics I use my 17-40mm or 24-105 both are L lenses and I find this scenerio perfect for me.

I have to second the above. I use the same three lenses to cover essentially all of my shooting. But as has been mentioned before...oft times the 400 is still short of what I want. A doubler helps, but with it you lose the auto focus in most lighting conditions, and you lose that critical sharpness. I had a Pentax 500 prime lens (until it was stolen), comparing it to the 100-400 L you could see why the pro wildlife photogs use prime lenses instead of zooms.

They are a little pricey, but...I use the WACOM Cintiq 21UX monitor...OMG!!!!! You can't believe how much easier it is to get your editing done! There is no training yourself to coordinate hand-eye movement. The monitor IS the Wacom tablet. And, your mouse still works when you want to do what-ever tasks. And, since these monitors weren't made to appeal to the gaming crowd, they calibrate spot-on!

Just an FYI, Delkin Devices has a great support center that can recover the majority of "lost" images...they also make some of the most reliable memory cards and readers in the industry.

Prior to the 60's press photogs used 4x5s with a wide angle lens. Period. The production images were all cropped out of those negatives. Some of them were pretty good...

I have a Canon480EX II. Is this best used as the master or slave in wireless mode? What is a good combo if I use it as the master? Of course Canon says the 580 but its big bucks.

Chuck,
I am a pro fashion photographer, I at many times use multiple flashes, and use Pocket Wizards to control everything. Sometimes I have as many as 5 strobes connected, I have 7 Pocket Wizards. They are expensive but in my opinion well worth the cost, since they allow amazing configurations and effects.

hi george...i have a question for ya!! if the flashes all work in slave mode, why do you use that many pocket wizards? just a question. i have some pocket wizards but the slave mode always seems to work. i am not a pro photographer..so any advice from you would be welcome. am i missing something by not using triggers? thanks in advance.

The reason that I use my PocketWizards at weddings or events is that when the strobes are set to Flash trigger, they go off constantly when anyone else in the room fires a point and shoot...or camera phone!

I often carry an extra lens in a lens holster...but on the belt is an empty holster also. That one takes the lens coming off of the camera body, so that I don't have to tuck one of the lenses under my arm or set it down on something while making the change.
