just a question....
does cropping pics make you less of a professional photographer if u have a wide arsenal of lenses?
Nothing wrong with cropping. But, of course, anything can be overdone.

Only if your lens clicks.
dont know ansal adams edited. whats his pictures worth
God sakes no, and cropping doesn't make you any less of photographer than not cropping. Cropping will present the photo in a manner that the frame is filled with what you wanted, and to better bring the eye to the main subject in a frame.

He was the master of editing. Often spent more time on the edit than getting the image. Burning, dodging, trying numerous different papers.

No at all!
If you pull back a little, you give yourself options that can include a vertical or horizonal crop.
Create a different look!
Options!!!

Cropping is something that may be necessary just because of where you were taking the photos. Cropping is something I do a lot of, simply because I am forced to be in a photographers pit. Now I have many lens (far too many I think), knowing how to crop and being able to plan for it is what makes the pro.

Did someone suggest that it does?
Prior to the 60's press photogs used 4x5s with a wide angle lens. Period. The production images were all cropped out of those negatives. Some of them were pretty good...
