Well, I have to agree with you regarding Quad. Congrats on your windfall, and having an out from that evil print world. LOL.

I work for Continental Web. Work with Quad quiet a bit. Mostly shipping. I am currently on medical leave. Uncertain of my return. Small world. You still in the print industry?

Print runs. My company prints the advertisements you find in your newspaper for Nikon. We do this approx 12 times a year. Each time we order from Nikon is considered as a print run. So, we have 12 print runs scheduled for the year.
1 print run is approx 18mm advertisements printed.

I definitely love my mini iPad. I love many of the photo apps for quick editing. I use my laptop only for serious photo editing and backups. There is software out there that allows you to login to your laptop from anywhere as long as you are wifi connected. You can search for LOGMEIN app. My next adventure is to remotely control my camera from my iPad. So for me I give a big thumbs up for tablets. I think the future will eventually eliminate the laptop. The laptop will go the way the same way the floppy drive did. I give it 10 years. I do own ipads, itouch, iphone, but IMO, I have a funny feeling Mac will fall behind in the technology.

I used to work for a printing company here in Chicago. We print all their advertisements from Oct - the middle of Dec plus a few in the spring. We usually print 20mm pieces each run approximately 12 runs a year. Nikon took a bad hit when the earthquake and tsunami hit. That had to cancel two printed runs. One run was already intransitive to newspapers all over the US. I think they are still struggling in many areas since then, including customer service. That, was a couple years ago, Nikon had lost some manufacturing building and other things partly why I try to support them. Hope this brings a little behind the scenes info for you.

Chinaman, Fototaker, & Gwong,
I am grateful for your kind words and suggestions. I am so happy I was not kicked for inactivity. I most certainly am not looking for sympathy or financial assistance. Your prayers, words, and thoughts are more precious more valuable than any prices of metal or paper. My family and I have fought hard over the past year through many trials and our faith will give us the strength, courage, and wisdom to prevail. I have documented through my mini iPad some of these struggles and maybe one day when this is done with I will share. I enjoy visiting when I can to see all the new pictures. So many to look at since my last visit. Be certain all your photos make me smile, laugh, bring joy, they are also of great value. Thanks again and I do pray for this group to have continued success in growth as a photo junkie family. :-)

I certainly have missed you all and taking pictures. I have been pretty much out of commission since the car accident last year. You may be aware I received 3 tainted epidural shots. Currently, struggling to fight the infection; once I am clear of the fungal infection (maybe 5 more months), I will be able to address the back injury. We are struggling as a family to make ends meet. My short term disability ended on the 5th and now we are praying for long term disability. My company has forced me into the COBRA plan, which we don't think we will be able to afford. We are keeping the faith and hope to be able to take pictures again. Seen some awesom new photos.

Number 1 , you rarely see a guy running around in a Fedora, My goal was to achieve a modern day genre with a touch of Nostalgia. He was rough around the edges, unshaven, had a look about him that was interesting, just thought it would be a unique picture. He agreed to the picture but, I suspect he did no expect a camera phone shoved in his face. LOL.
When I am out and about, I try to ensure camera setting are set to high res & burst mode.

Three I admit is one of my favorite pictures. It's not the best i have taken, It was a picture of opportunity during a Rolling Stones cover band performance. I The band itself was awesome. When the show was over, I managed to talk the band into allowing me to sneak in the back stage and snap a few pictures of their equipment but also love of them as well. Hopefully, I'll have more pictures coming in the near future. I am slightly incapacitated right now so slow to move.

Number 2 was actually taken with an iPhone as well, My daughter pointed out the icicles on the bushes, I thought why not take a picture.
