open the editor with a photo to be edited then look in the view option, and check the ruler and it will be back

sorry I did not state that but yes I opened a picture to be edited then clicked on "view". no options are available if a picture has not been opened. the check mark in front of rulers displays, but no rulers show up in the edit screen.

Thank you for the reply, but as I stated that is what I did.

I've been using pse11 for several years now and have had no problems untill a week ago. In the expert mode I always display the rulers, but last week they when away, why I have no idea. Using expert mode, and clicking on "view" allows me to set "rulers", when I do that the check mark comes on to indicate rulers is on but nothing shows on the screen, or using shift/ctl/R has no effect either.

Can anyone point me in the right direction to find some help with this problem?

Maybe now I should ask, which is the best camera Nikon or Canon?
Not really, but I do thank all of you for efforts and your opinions. You have given me much good information some of which I would not considered without your responce. So many people willing to help others is why I love this site.

All things considered I will stay with Sandisk.

Thank you all for the comments, ideas, and food for thought. I would not and will not put the card back in the camers, and I think I will continue me routine of down loading the card via an USB card reader right after a shoot which has worked just fine for the five years I have been using a DSLR.

I love this site, all you have to to do is use the word "problem" and a bunch of people are there offering help.

I am currently in the process of a warranty claim with Sandisk on an Extreme Pro card, which has a lifetime warranty, as I think your card does.

There are a couple of hoops to jump through, but my new, replacement card is on its way to me, free of charge.

I didn't have the proof of purchase and simply explained that to them. They wanted to know where I bought it, but I couldn't recall, and told them as much. They wanted photos of the front and the back of the card (preferably that will reveal the serial number on the back), which I provided. Of course, they wanted an explanation of the issue (mine would not format in either the camera nor both of my computers).

All in all, it wasn't a bad experience and they were very professional about the whole thing.

Curiosity killed the cat, I had to look, so with my pocket knife I opened the card all the way. Would have a hard time now proving it just fell apart.

Need one or two memory cards for my canon 60d which takes SD, SDHC, or SDXC. Still using the SanDisk which came with the camera. I think I want 16 MB so I'm not puting all my eggs in one basket (maybe 8 MB). Many of you have been shooting DSLR far longer and far more than I, therefore know much more than I,so your thoughts will be very helpful in picking the right card.

I still do not shoot RAW

I will say it again, "Don't remove your SD card from your camera" unless it is really vital. From the look of the images the card has be inserted/reinserted very often, no wonder the card has come apart.
Obviously the card does need to removed sometimes if so take extreme care.

This is the first time I have ever read anything about not removing the card from the camera, and yes this card has been removed and replace a great number of times but never with any force. It is my procedure to remove the card and place it in a caed reader, I guess I'll stick with that until I break another card then I'll look for the cord to download from the camera.
