Ever have a card come apart like this? Was putting the card into a canon 60d andf it would not go, after looking at the problem I noticed the contact section of the card was laying in the slot. I was able to remove the part from the camera and side the 2 parts together and it looks like it would work, but don't think I want to put it back in the camera.

I wouldn't either, I would throw it in the trash. Or may be send it to san disk, might get a replacement out of this.

Congratulations! How in the world did you accomplish this? Did you try to insert it in backwards? The first image has one of the platic tabs lifted as if it was forced. Obviously, you don't want to use it again. Thanks for sharing. I've never see this happen before. SD cards are generally pretty robust and durable.

I played with it with my pocket knife, that is how it got bent up, I have no idea how it happened, sure was not from forcing it, learned that lesson many years ago.

The important part is:
"provide proof of purchase (showing date and place of purchase and name of the reseller)"

Who keeps their credit card receipt for such an inexpensive item past the next card billing cycle?

And, of course, we all keep the receipts from SD card purchases. :D

Actually, it it came from Amazon, you could log on and print a receipt.

I will say it again, "Don't remove your SD card from your camera" unless it is really vital. From the look of the images the card has be inserted/reinserted very often, no wonder the card has come apart.
Obviously the card does need to removed sometimes if so take extreme care.

This is the first time I have ever read anything about not removing the card from the camera, and yes this card has been removed and replace a great number of times but never with any force. It is my procedure to remove the card and place it in a caed reader, I guess I'll stick with that until I break another card then I'll look for the cord to download from the camera.

I keep ALL of my receipts in PDF form in gmail...I can recall them at will.

I rarely buy gear offline so it works out for me.

On the rare occasion that I haven't, I've called the camera shop and asked them to send me a PDF copy of my order and they have.

Target and some other stores now send PDF receipts via email. My propane company sends copies of delivery receipts the same way. I keep them in a Receipts folder, with individual folders inside that. It's hard to imagine how our ancestors got by without PDFs.

Hi Racerdan, a few years back a similar thing happened to me, like many people I used to take my SD card out regularly to download the photos. One occasion I removed the car and one of the gold connectors was dislodged and rendered the card useless, since that day I very rarely take the card out and always use the USB wire. Please be careful when inserting/removing your cards, although I must say your card seemed to have a manufacturing fault.
Cheers,
John.

Except that others will say "don't use the USB cable...repeated use makes the camera's socket loose and it will fail..." (and I've seen it happen)

You can't win either way you go :)
