Thank you. Yes, I am double checking on who actually owns the land/park. Yes- the parents gave me permission and one was there.

I am looking to see if anyone has had any issues with a private club telling someone they couldn't take photos of children or be on "their property". In this case, a soccer club has been using the RPB Memorial Park here for various games. At the invite of my neighbor to take photos of his son playing, I did so and have done at least 10 games at this same site. I ran into a guy this week, maybe British who may not know the privacy/legal laws regarding public photography and he said I can't take photos of kids on their teams. I have searched all the sites on Internet and find parks, town land is public and any photos can be taken. I understand the issue of posting on Internet etc but they were just for my neighbor.
Anyway, I plan to go back and do another game but want to be sure the soccer club doesn't lease or control the land ( soccer fields) in any way. The guy on the field running the tournament was fine and probably didn't know but his boss, President or CEO of club threatened to call the police, which I should have called him on but decided to have all my ducks in a row before returning. This guy was also foreign, I say that only because of the possibility he doesn't know privacy and photography issues.
I plan to call the Town Rec center and the local police to verify its public land. Another friend who has been a photographer for many years, said he has never had a problem. Any comments or suggestions are appreciated.

Thank you. I have been to Biggs Camera and rented stuff to try out. Will do. Thanks for all the advice from everyone. I am pretty set on getting the MD D17 for my D500. I hear lots of bad reports on the battery pack for the Z6 so may wait on that one. Wondering if everyone purchased their battery pack grips new and if there are problems getting a used one?

I am looking for recommendations for the purchase of a hand grips or battery pack for my Nikon Z6 and D500. I have recently read that a hand grip used with the lighter Nikon 300mm F/4 PF lens helps with holding steady and not touching the lens while shooting. Has anyone had any experience with these. I am not looking to purchase a number of them and trying to decide on one for the Z6 since I use that more but eventually may add the D500. Does a battery pack act as a hand grip too? I saw a used Meike hand grip for the Z6 at $40 but not sure that is what I want so looking for any recommendations or someone who has experience with these.

Good photos. Looks like fun. I have never done horses but do lots of sports- indoor and outdoor. One of your photos looked a little soft. I get that and realize I need slightly faster shutter speed. The first time it started with soccer games and I thought I needed monopod or tripod, tried monopod and found my handheld were fine but just had to pay more attention to shutter speed and focus. I am using Nikon D500 and Nikon Z6 but still learning. If this was your first time then remember you will get better and better.

I currently bought a new D500 and the Nikon Z6 mirrorless. I love both. With the adaptor on the Z6 I am able to use many other old lens ( not too old or they won't work- check Nikon site for the list) on the Z6 and so far all are producing outstanding results. Although I have not had the Z6 more than 6-7 months I love what it does and its fun learning all the extra menu features and auto focus options. I have used it with a 50mm prime, 70-200mm F/2.8, the 100-400mm F/5 Sigma and the 24-70mm F/4 that comes with the camera. Sticking to Nikon other than that one Sigma lens but research for me indicated Sigma has more choices than Tamron lens. If you love your D500, you will love Z6 or Z7 and should stick to Nikon.

I used the Mavic Mini for over a year and understand the Mini 2 is much better. After reading the other posts here, I agree with them. Mini 2 will be great start- is reasonable price. Remember to purchase extra batteries. If learning to fly, I suggest keeping the mini at minimum altitude and watch your distance, obviously you need line of sight but also watch your battery power. The mini is also very light, so don't try to fly it on windy days. Download various apps to check weather and other surrounding area issues. There are also a lot of safety measures and software updates you will have to pay attention to, otherwise you will have IMU and calibration problems. Hope you have fun and enjoy.

Good Morning. I am fairly new to the Hedgehog and look forward to learning more about my passion for photography. Even after 10 years of a lot of photography I have much to learn. I retired this month for a 2nd time after 29 years in federal law enforcement and 15 years running a Forensic Academy for police training at a community college. I also taught college students police photography and after 20Gig or 30,000 photos as a "campus photographer" it is time to move on to one of my favorites, sports photography.

I recently purchased a Nikon Z 6 and a Nikon D500 and love both. I am using a 70-200mm and 100-400mm lens and enjoy both. I have researched for a 300mm prime lens but the F/2.8 lens are big bucks and looking for some advice on options. I have seen some comments on the Nikon 300mm F/4 -new PF model in the $2,000 range and wonder if anyone likes that for sports. I have done basketball, soccer, baseball, wrestling and volleyball but with retirement i may continue with other sports. I am located near Davidson College, Davidson NC so fortunate to be able to see different sports.
I look forward to learning more and viewing any advice from others.
