I've used compatible ink for my Epson and Conon printers for years with no problem and they are much cheaper. The only problem with the Canon printer is that compatible ink will not show the ink usage. I sometimes get the real ink for Canon at the same price on Ebay.

On my Nikon D3100 when I try to delete a photograph it says
Cannot delete. protected image
I'd be grateful if anyone could tell me why it's there and how to get rid of it.

I've added a pictue, not mine, I'm afraid. It was a Roman, saxon fort and the church tower was added about the 12th century. If I can get up there I'll take some photos. It's quite a drive.

OK Donrent see what I can do. It's just a pile of stones now but is really old. See if I can dig up some info.

Thought you photographers in the US might like to see where a would-be photographer lives in England. The shot is out of my window of the beach and North Sea. In the distance you can see Reculver Castle which is probably older than the US.
The area is as further southeast as you can get in England and has the lowest rainfall, in fact we now have a drought.

I haven't seen much in this forum on printing. I print my own pictures on a Canon MX350 which is a decent printer but seldom are the colours quite the same as on the screen. It is possible, of course to make adjustments but that gets expensive as it means printing several copies and ink is not cheap.I use Canon ink but have not noticed any difference between Canon ink and compatibles.
I would be interested in any thoughts on this topic.

That's right. I had a darkroom and I developed and printed colored photos but never could do what I can do now. My original point was is it making the new generation of photographers sloppy?

Both Photoshop and Gimp are difficult to learn and probably you will not need much of what is there. try Serif PhotoPlus X5. It gives the average amateur photographer all they will need and has a very good video help system. I don't know what is costs in the USA , it is not expensive in UK.Corel, too, is quite a good programme

Is photo editing taking the skill out of photography? I use serif PhotoPlus X5 and with care it can make a poor picture much better. In the old days you stood or fell by what you took.
