Not RAW, they are not accepted here, JPG smallest compression are better.

I would love to be able to print one of these pictures larger, but I'm afraid it needs some help. sharpen? crop? etc. Any thing anyone can do to help would be appreciated. I'd like to make it a Christmas present. Thank you in advance!

Cosmos, could you post the non cropped original size so that the changes made for you work better? Then whoever works on it places the larger picture as well and you get a great result.

I will try to post the original raw of the 2nd one tomorrow....footage get some sleep cause I job interview in the morning...

That was supposed to say 'gotta' but auto correct made it footage. :-)

And I hope Cheryl can look at the raw vrs & tell me how she 'popped' the color. I can crop, but I don't know much about how to make other post changes. But I have elements 10, & photomatix & very willing to learn.

I hate to say it
But I would shoot the cat again
with a better camera
and with your thoughts on percise focusing in Raw then you can blow it up
I have done the same as you
My cat will sit there long enough to practice the shot.

Well, I use a Canon 5D ii with a 24-70 2.8 lens.....so I think the camera is fine...its the photographer! Lol

Thank you everyone! I do have the pictures in raw, so I will use the second picture, cropped as suggested.

And normally I would use a tripod, but I was trying to just be sneaky & get a quick picture.. that's why the focus isn't precise and the color is a little orange. I'm not sure if I'll get another chance, so I was hoping to use these.

I really appreciate everyone input.

THanks again everyone, I will try and remember to answer all the questions.
Cosmo, this was taken at the Brevard County Zoo in Melbourne, FL. But if you tell me where you are going in Fl, I can probably give you some good ideas of some great places, we have TONS! Also, Sinatraman's suggestions are good too. But I would be happy to give you some personal takes on the areas I'm familiar with.

I like everyone's suggestions about submitting this photo, and I will see if my girlfriend wants to do that. Again, I didn't take this shot, that's my camera she's looking into.

Someone asked what lens that was, it's a Canon 70-300mm . I was trying to get a nice close up, when she decided I wasn't close enough! LOL...My girlfriend and I like to go on photo shoots frequently, so I was really lucky that she was there to capture this moment!

And lastly, Mooseeyes, I do love your idea for a caption contest!

Again, thanks everyone, I love this shot too! It's going on my wall for sure!

Tracey....I'll be in Melbourne/Orlando area (Tuesday thru following Wednesday) but I'm fine with driving anywhere else. any ideas for bird or wildlife pic areas you can recommend would be greatly appreciated

I really like the second one. I would like to see it straighten though feels like it tilts to the left. But, I like the perspective and it is interesting. If you saturated the colors, I would back off a bit looks a bit over done. The first one is ok but the front on shot doesn't do it for me. But, I know how it is to try and get those little buggers to pose for you! :) The third one, I don't care for. the last one has good focus and light but again I don't find it interesting. Keep shooting!

thank you very much for responding! on the graffiti (sp?) one, all I did was combine three pics (-1,0,+1) in Photomatix. so I give all credit to the s/w. :-)

If you don't mind me asking, where was this shot taken? I live in NJ about 30 min from Allentown. Looks like a wonderful, peaceful site to take a walk

Thank you. I was reading through the owner manual last night and trying to figure out the modes. I am going to go out again today if it doesnt rain and try to take some more using what I learned.

Hi! And have a great time with your new camera. I may not know a lot about photography, but I like the first and third...afraid of spiders in focus or not so I jumped past that one. LOL

I happen to like the chain in the first..makes me think the rose is fighting th break out. And also like the white flowers....

Keep going & post more . And the biggest thing I've learned here is to just keep shooting. Use others opinions for what they are worth (opinions & suggestions). And btw, the rule of thirds doesn't always apply.

Have fun
