You have the eye and that is what counts. You get more out of that A550 than some can with a premium dslr. I just wish I had half your eye and imagination. Keep at it, you are doing great.

Thank you saside. The photos have an aura all their own. I am going to have to get one of those filters and try it out. Looks like a lot of fun.

Thanks for the info JimKing. I am going to try and get something going with this shortly. We live in the country and have a lot of critters roaming around our yard at night. I thought it might be fun to try to get some pics of them. How did you do it with a P&S?

Thank you JimH & arphot. I will have to look into this a little further. I wasn't even sure if it was possible. One of those things I have always wanted to try.

I got thinking about something today and I am curious. I know they make film for infrared photography but is the such a thing as digital infrared photography?

Hi GB,
I finally managed to get them all posted. I don't know what happened. Probably being a new guy on the block didn't help.

Hi DB, I am posting some of the family photos I have. It was rather difficult as they are all under glass so the bubble frame has some reflections. The one with all the pictures has my great great grandfather and his wife top right. Left top is my dad and his sister, the center is my grandfather, bottom left is my great grandfather and his wife and bottom right is my grandfather and grandmother on their wedding day in 1907. My wife had them matted and professionally framed for me many years ago for my birthday.
the Civil War soldiers are my great grandfather Harrison Clarke and his brother Perry Clarke. They both were in Company G of the 104th New York Volunteer infantry. They were captured on the Weldon Railroad outside Petersburgh, Va. August 19, 1864 and were held in three different prison camps ending up at Libby in Richmond. They were paroled back to the Union Army in January of 1865. By the way the pictures are copies as I keep the tintypes safely in the bank.
The picture in the oval frame is my dad when he was 2 years old. To tell the truth he hated that picture but today I proudly display it in my home.

Hi DB, I have tintypes of my great grandfather and his brother when they fought in the Civil War. I also have pictures of my grandfather when he was 2 taken in 1874. My favorite though is one of my dad taken around 1913. It is in the most beautiful oval, bubble glass frame I have ever seen. I will try to get them on here soon so you can see them. My grandmother who died in 1981 at age 99 kept everything and I was the only one in the family that wanted them so I was very fortunate in getting them. Thanks for sharing your family pictures. I like you am a very lucky person.

Thanks Dria, I will give that a shot as we have a Walgreens close by.
I have used Walmart for printing but when I asked their photo people about it they were unable to help me.

I have a Nikon D60 and a Panasonic FH-20 for a pocket camera. The Nikon has an APSC sensor 23.6 x 15.8 size or a 3x2 ratio.
The FH-20 has a sensor 6.12 x 4.51 or a 4 X 3 ratio. When I print 4x6 prints that were shot with the camera held vertically the Nikon prints what I shot. On the other hand the Panasonic either leaves a white margin about 1/4" wide on either side of the print. If I rotate it 90 degrees it cuts the top off of peoples heads etc. Am I right that it is the sensor ratio causing my problem and if so is there a fix for the problem? Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
