I promise to never try mounting the lens. The difference in the two lens' that camera with my T5 are very obvious.
I again thank everyone for your knowledge and help. CLF
A little humor. When we brought out the first PC it was going to have 32k of memory. What we got in DOS from the individual (now Microsoft) needed to have 64k. As it progressed I remember the 512k version with a 10mg hard file was way beyond anybodies need. Boy we were wrong.

Thank You for the very quick reply. This sites members always amaze me. I now understand and when I get my next body (1-2 years out) I will make sure to keep the EFS lens off. Will mark it even more prominently so I do not make a mistake and break a new camera's mirror.

Just read the post about EF for full frame and EFS is for cameras like the Rebel T5 I own. I understand the difference between the camera bodies but do not understand why the EFS will not work on a full frame body. Can someone explain what happens when you do use an EFS on a full Frame body?
Thanks, Lead Foot
Thanks to all. I now know what shutter count is all about and it makes easy sense to me. Next camera I buy (12 to 24 months from now) will be a refurb. Just makes a whole lot of sense like you all have pointed out. I am also into the shooting sports, mainly Cowboy Action. I hardly ever buy new guns and the used ones are usually better because they are broken in.

Just a thought from my IT days. The cloud is a computer made by man. All things made by man break, wear out, etc., etc. I can see it now when the big cloud in the sky goes boink. I think I will stay with the RAID I am assembling for myself.

Peter, you are the man. Finally took some pics this morning to test out the software and printer. Prior to that I would take a shot or two to check out what I learned. Learning the new software takes awhile.
Thanks again, Lead Foot
Jethro, my brother Jim had that car with a 327/300 hp except it was a hard top. Fast and fun. He claimed the convertible added too much weight.

Thanks, Jerry. That is what I kinda thought. It is like everything you mentioned, it will wear out and shutter count may help but it is not the only thing that matters.
I already am in a major learning curve and will leave that one alone.

I see shutter count mentioned in many different topics. There is even software to track it. All this implies there is a point when the camera is going to go belly up due to usage. Never worried about this subject when I shot film. Is it something that requires monitoring or something just to know?

Gentlemen, since I started this thread I am asking to please stop this disagreement or take off line. The argument is not helping the subject matter at all.
Thanks in advance, OP
I am a new guy and ask similar questions. The way I take it is with a smile. I also like the little battle that happens after the comment. It is funny to watch such adult and knowledgeable individuals get a tangled up in their shorts.

I also like to eat my venison, however, I do not shoot everything I used to. There is a gentleman (Jimmy Houston) started me thinking some time ago. He hunts turkey with a camera on TV. He does the shooting with his camera and a cameraman is shooting him. He calls it shoot and release. I have done that with my film cameras 40 years ago and will be doing it again. I can only eat so much venison in a year.

OK, I now understand the Mirror Less a whole lot better. The 4/3 understood can use my old Canon Lens' and they are lighter. Maybe the body of the future. I am very pleased with my first digital pick (Canon Rebel T5 package) I have read the manual and also read a whole lot more here. As I read the manual I tried what I learned with the camera which does a lot for my memory. Using them daily will cement the functions I use the most in my mind. Weather has been a little wet here all week since I picked my camera up so no actual prints as of yet.
I really appreciate all the discussion on what I thought was an easy topic. More to understand than just no mirror. I will be only locking the mirror up on my Canon if I see a benefit when I shoot closeups. I prefer to use the viewfinder and also appreciate the longer battery life when I do.
Thanks again, Greg
