While my lens is just 1:2, I hope that my tight crop will qualify as "true macro". Lens is a Minolta 50mm f3.5 which is needle sharp.

The two things i dislike most in photography are silky water and black and white. Do you think Ansel Adams would be using black and white if he were around today?

Ansel Adams photographed this tree in B&W. I did the same in color. The strange thing about this is that I did not know of his photo at the time. This is a copy of the slide from 1964.

I'm amazed. The obvious preference here flies in the face of every pro photographer's instruction that I have found. Oh well, to each his own.

Anyone who has sold a photo is a professional. That does not mean that he or she is worth a damn. I have never sold a photo; preferring to to give my work to anyone who enjoys it.

Some photographers prefer their water to be silky and shot with a slow shutter. I like many others prefer a fast shutter which is closer to what the eye actually perceives.

Here are slide copies from 1962 that include geysers, fumaroles, mudpots, and bears. You might notice the lack of crowds, unlike what is seen today.

Get a $1.00 bucket at the Dollar Store. This works so well that the little buggers just look up from the base and know they've been defeated.

A very nice photograph of your lovely wife and her beautiful smile. You are a lucky man.

Thanks Dennis. She has always been photogenic. That smile is so very real and this year makes 60 for us. By the way, those look like some fine trout.

Sarah Valentino owns a stylish little boutique with her mother who is an older version of Sarah. They needed photos for their web page. I wanted to shoot with them both, but Mom was just not up to it. Too bad. Nikon D800, 50mm, ISO 400. Lit with two Alien Bees main with a beauty dish and fill or back with a 28" soft box. scrims. The last one shows the set up. I love this girl! C&C appreciated.

I have no problem with the tech end. I just can't handle any woman with tattoos or facial hardware. I still remember the pre 80's women who went without disfigurement. I'm 86 and that should come as no surprise after expressing myself.

A Quick snapshot of my wife(82) to test the result of this combination. This is an equivalent of a 100mm f2.8 lens. Looks promising.

The first 3 are looking east from Sentinel Dome. The last two are of Upper and lower Yosemite Falls taken from Glacier Point. This was the first outing for my new telephoto lens.

Here is a shot from the valley floor of staircase falls, which can usually be seen in the Spring. This was taken in sunset light and another Kodachrome copy. Early evening in Yosemite is my favorite time: Almost magical.

Here's one I missed. Yosemite falls as seen from Glacier Point. Camera used was an Alpa 6b
