True, most people do. However, many older folks do not necessarily have a smartphone, or one with a decent camera. I know lots of older people who only use their cell phones occasionally and primarily as a telephone and some of them even have clamshell models specifically geared to minimal phone use.
I am one of those "older people" (85). I take a D7100 with 18-200VR2 on my travels.

Thanks for the link David! We were telling friends the other night about it. I will send her the link of your beautiful shots. We are going back to Alaska in June on a cruise and talking about a side trip there since there is no stop in Victoria on this cruise.

Would love to see Butchart at Christmas time!!
You're very welcome. I love to share.

Thanks, Jim E. I have been to Butchart Gardens, in 2007. My photos of it are in this Album: https://www.flickr.com/photos/8712554@N02/sets/72157603512311778/

As to the sign, I've no idea what the reason is. Maybe there's a hospital or church near the exit? I took a picture of it because it seemed so odd.

Susan, I guess I got busy and just forgot about it. I'm working now to overcome that failure.

Longshadow, thanks for the thumbs up!

Melbourne, Australia Botanic Gardens

I toured Australia in 2017 and posted a panorama from the Botanic Gardens in 2018, but I don’t seem to have posted any other photos of the city. I have several other photos of the Gardens and I’m posting some of them here.

Melbourne, Australia

I toured Australia in 2017 and posted a panorama from the Botanic Gardens in 2018, but I don’t seem to have posted any other photos of the city. I don’t know haw that happened, because I have posted many photos of that trip to Flickr, and once I’ve done that I usually post a small set from there to UHH. A search of UHH for “Melbourne” does not reveal a posting by me, so I guess I didn’t make one. This set will attempt to correct that omission.

If you go to San Antonio, stay at the Menger, a wonderful historic hotel literally next door to the Alamo. You can walk across the street to the riverwalk. Kind of touristy but worth a stroll. For excellent tex-mex go to La Fogata or La Fonda.
I stayed at the Menger Hotel in 1991. There are some photos of it in this Album: https://www.flickr.com/photos/8712554@N02/sets/72157626142208797/.
