Agree w #3. All very good!
The photos will be for us as well as our club members and the facebook page. I do not attempt to shoot while the show photographer is working. Some shows are very large and the professional is not always at a particular ring or event.
Thanks again to everyone, much appreciated!
I feel I have a better game plan now.
Thanks again for all the feedback. Points well taken. The venue is very large and bright, no windows in the main interior portion. I will try out different settings and let you know how it goes. The dog shows we have been to, even the professional photographer doen not use a flash ringside.
Thanks, was also planning on using my main lens 24-70ii. Just not enough reach in the rings for some shots. Hopefully will have a few posts if not totally humiliated by my attemps. What about the lighting selection for fluorescent and tungsten or leave to auto?
Thanks for the reply,

Very large exhibit hall
This is what is listed on their website NRGpark.com

Hello Hogs,
I will be attempting taking pics of our dog club this coming weekend at an indoor venue. Any advise on settings to use without flash on a Canon 5diii with a rented 70-200ii lens? I have found a wide variety of settings online and thought that this lens would work best. There will be stills and action shots.
Thanks in advance,
Darryl

Awesome swallowtail shots!
Hey Hogs, I was wondering how to view image details such as camera / lens type and exposure settings of a picture on an iPad? I am learning and enjoy the site. I have found it helpful to look at the posted photos and read type of equipment and settings. Some Hogs give details of their equipment and settings which is helpful, but not all. I know this would be cumbersome and time consuming to manually list with each file. On my iMac, my saved files list all information with the info tab in iPhoto. On some of the Hog's downloaded files, it only shows the type of camera and file size. On the iPad, I do not see a way to view file info, which is usually how I browse.
Thanks in advance and have a happy and safe 4th!

Very nice shots, especially the dragonfly.
What type of macro lens do you use?
Awesome shots, esp the "space ship"!
