I've got a Fujitsu laptop with touchscreen and win8. (i5 with 6g) It is very easy to use but by no means required. The mouse will do everything needed. Win8 takes a while to get used to, but once you make the commitment it is ok, you just have to get used to the different interface. I would recommend one of the w8 tutorials to get the hang of it. A revised version is due to come out in a couple of weeks that will have the start tab we are so familiar with, plus you can get an add on now if you really want it now.

My wife was a server at an excellent steak house in the South and made $2.00 a day. She usually made at least $100.00 per shift in tips. Some of the laws changed in the area and they started paying $2.00 per hour but after that the federal requirements at that time required management to charge taxes on 15% of her daily sales. (They figured that she would receive 15% of the check total as a tip) There were occasions when someone would leave less than the 15% so she got screwed on that check. Needless to say we NEVER leave less than 20% unless the service is simply terrible. When you are receiving tips for your work you don't fall under the minimum wage laws. And yes you usually are required to share a percentage of your tips with the rest of the staff. (Cooks, bus people and host/hostess)

I also have the Phoenix model. It requires a LOT of light, especially with the 2x converter attached. Clarity is not real good. I haven't had it very long and just got it to play with. It's really just a cheap toy in my opinion. Tried some moon shots this morning and not impressed with it as it is all manual and really hard to get focused on my D90.

I have a Nikon D70 that was, I believe, converted by Lifepixel with a 720nm filter. I can't get the colors like your set up. (Something to think about for the future) I'm the second owner of this camera I actually got here on UHH. I am still working on WB and focus. I really like the IR shots though,

I especially like the color infrared. What is your set up?

I successfully downloaded the software. Now do I just need a cord to go from the camera to the computer, or are there a bunch of settings I need to pull this off?

You gave enough info. Make sure your computer is on. Get a usb cable to connect your camera to computer and plug it in. Turn camera on.
Next question?
It's the same with all periphery hardware, makes no difference what it is.

Thank you GP!! Don't need a lot of sleep. But I guess I get enough. To bed most of the time around 1 or 2 and up by 5. But have been doing it as long as I can remember. I drive Janny nuts.:):)
Erv

I was just like that before I retired.

I took the Dremel apart and found out why the motor wasn't turning the shaft. There is a nylon gear on the motor and a similar on one the shaft. These gears are connected by some sort of soft, waxy material. That material broke apart at the motor end.

It's called a coupling, and I ordered one for $5.33 delivered.

That's pretty much the way mine looked too.
Glad you're able to fix it.
