Hi,
I joined UHH a week ago and after reading through for many hours, it looks like a great community so thought I should introduce myself. I have only been taking photographs for a couple of years, thought about 2 but it was 2008, time flies, I still class myself as a beginner. I have a Canon S3 IS and hopefully will be inheriting a Canon 350D in August. My favourite type of photography is Macro and least favourite is Architecture, can never get it right.

I live in Melbourne, Australia quite close to the Dandenong Ranges so lots of photo opportunities. My partner and I like to travel around Aus. when we can, hopefully a 3 month trip in August.

I have uploaded 3 photographs, No. 1 is of Swamp Tigers mating, No. 2 Swamp Tiger Sunning itself and No. 3 a Cuckoo-Bee. All were taken in the wild at Howard Springs< Darwin in the Northern Territory. The first two have had no editing, the Bee has been cropped, I chased it around a bush for a good 15 minutes to get this one shot.

Hope you enjoy them.

Anne

Hi, I'm new to UHH and would like some advice. I love Macro photography, I have a Canon S3 IS which has a Macro and Super Macro function, the Super Macro range is 0 to 10cm. my partner is upgrading to a Canon 7D and is giving me his Canon 350D, I would like to buy a Macro Lens, I was thinking about the 100mm L IS after a lot of Internet searching, I would also like a a Ring Flash but am not at all sure which one would be best. I would be photographing flowers, butterflies, bugs, mushrooms etc. I would be thankful for any advice but please not too technical, I have only been taking photographs for about 3 years and Definately still a beginner. I'll try and upload some in the next couple of days. I have been looking through UHH for a few days and it looks like a wonderful community.

Thanks
Anne

I don't agree with you, it DID erase the photos from our hard drive and it Did re arrange, downsize and even cut some of the photos in half when it 'Compacted'.

Hi Mike,
I am a new member to UHH and this is my first post. I would NEVER recommend Picasa to anyone. It always scans the computer for every photo it can find regardless if you want it in there or not. My partner had all his photos in Picasa and at first everything seemed good, till it started 'compacting', it deleted photos from Picasa folders and the computer hard drive. The photos that weren't deleted were downsized and it also put them into different folders, they were totally mixed up. We salvaged what we could and put them onto an external hard drive and Uninstalled Picasa. I know you have had a problem accessing the Picasa Forum, I managed to join and there are an awful lot of dissatisfied and very unhappy people with varying problems. We now use Photoshop Elements, it cost AU$100 but was well worth paying to have our photos safe, and once you get used to it easy to use.

Hope you find an editing programme that suits you.

Regards
Anne
