Hi,
I joined UHH a week ago and after reading through for many hours, it looks like a great community so thought I should introduce myself. I have only been taking photographs for a couple of years, thought about 2 but it was 2008, time flies, I still class myself as a beginner. I have a Canon S3 IS and hopefully will be inheriting a Canon 350D in August. My favourite type of photography is Macro and least favourite is Architecture, can never get it right.

I live in Melbourne, Australia quite close to the Dandenong Ranges so lots of photo opportunities. My partner and I like to travel around Aus. when we can, hopefully a 3 month trip in August.

I have uploaded 3 photographs, No. 1 is of Swamp Tigers mating, No. 2 Swamp Tiger Sunning itself and No. 3 a Cuckoo-Bee. All were taken in the wild at Howard Springs< Darwin in the Northern Territory. The first two have had no editing, the Bee has been cropped, I chased it around a bush for a good 15 minutes to get this one shot.

Hope you enjoy them.

Anne

Welcome to the UHH.

Spider pictures should be identified fully in title so you don't surprise with with a spider picture.

I hate Spiders. Ask anyone.

Hi Sarge,

Thanks, I can assure you I won't be posting any spider photos as I wouldn't be able to look at them long enough to aim the camera in the right direction.

Hi Anne... greetings from a fellow new-comer to this site.
Great pics!
What lens do you use for most of your macro?

Hi Wendy,

Pleased you like them. I don't have a DSLR, my camera is a Canon S3 IS which has a Macro and Super Macro function. It's a few years old now and no longer on the market but I wouldn't part with it for anything, even though I will most probably get a Canon 350D around August I will still keep this camera.

Welcome to the forum, Anne.

Looks like that was 15 minutes well spent! Great pictures, all of them. I've spent extended time chasing bugs around flowers also. Looks like you might have been a little more persistent than I was... LOL

I'll heed the warning about spiders though - I hadn't thought of that before (yea, I have some spider pics laying around somewhere..... in some corner.... collecting cobwebs..... )

Welcome and really nice shots. I'd never seen a blue bee before - very interesting and would like to see more.
