Well, I must say, Rich, that you seem to be proving Flash's point concerning liberals. What I find interesting is that Fox News generally have people from both ideologies on their shows on a regular basis; so-called main stream media tend to avoid conservative issues unless in a negative concept.

Having said that; I lean to the conservative side, but consider myself somewhat of an Independent. Whoever I think will do the best job gets my vote regardless of party. But keep in mind that we, as citizens of this great country, care about our constitutional rights. You want my vote; protect those rights.

great answers everyone. Guess I will pull my old film Nikons and lenses out of storage, see if they still work, go from there. Sorry for replying a thanks for the info, but have been in and out of town and working on a couple of projects when in town (one being getting a VW Trike road-able again). Again, thanks. This is a great forum for photography info.

Thanks for all the replies, sincerely. However, I feel I did not phrase my questions as well as I could have.

1. In the coolpix L and P series, I understand about the bridge cameras. What I meant to ask was what the letters P and L specifically stand for (each letter separately).

2. I understand that my old lenses will not fit on a non-interchangeable lens bridge) camera. I was wondering if they would work on DSLR camera such as the 5200 or 5100.

3. I had gotten an adapter for my L820 that would hold filters; However, at full zoom they would not work since the lens would protrude further than the adapter, so returned them. So, I guess my question should be will I have the same result with the p520, as that would end with the same negative result.

Again, thanks. Looking forward to more answers.

1. I currently have a Nikon Coolpix L820 and am very satisfied with it. I am looking at a Nikon Coolpix P520 to get some manual settings and more zoom. Need to know what the L and P mean with the camera model numbers as listed above.

2. I have two 30 year old Nikon film cameras in storage; an EM and a FE or FM(?) along with 4 or 5 lenses that gave me capabilities of 28mm to 410mm as well as several filters. Will these lenses work on the new digital Nikon cameras, and if so, what allowances would need to be made for them to be useful?

I am not a professional; just want to be able to take good quality pictures under various conditions. Thanks.

Thanks for all the good info. Guess I will dig my old Series E lenses out of storage and go from there. I used them on two non-digital (film) cameras in the '80's. I still have the cameras; an EM(?) and an FE. Took a lot of pictures (slides) in the Colorado Rockies and the Teton and Wind River ranges in NW Wyoming when I was riding horseback. Got some great shots.

Thanks. Will ck out 7100 (probably out of my price range).
What about the bundle with the 3100, and comparison to 5000 and 5100?

about $500 at upper end. Can get the 3100 with the two bundled lenses for about $469 at local camera shop.

Boy, do I have questions. I have a Nikon Coolpix L 820.

1. Am thinking about getting a second camera; maybe a 3100, 5000, or 5100. Thoughts? Price figures into equation.
2. Have two old Nikons from the early 80's that used Series E lenses Have quite of few of these lenses. Will they work on any of the above current digital Nikons without complications.
3. Looking at basic photoshop; will it work well with the Nikon View NX2 software that came with the L820.
4. On the 3100 listed above, you can get a bundle of the body, 18mm-55mm, and a 55mm-200MM. How would these lenses work compared to a 3100 and a single Tamron lens 18mm-270mm?
Advice very much appreciated. Thanks,

I would like to see some of the old (I mean old!) series from TV such as the original Little Rascals, All in The Family, Laurel and Hardy, etc.. Is there any way to access these on Roku, using Roku, Netflix, Hulu, etc.?

I have a nikon coolpix L820 that has really surprised me in its capabilities. I am looking at getting a second camera: Nikon 3100 with 18-55 and 70-200 lenses.
Will it be worth that much to buy the 3100 if I am keeping my L820?
I can see the advantage of being able to use the camera on manual; just don't know if I would use it enough to justify having it as an extra camera. I was into amateur photography about 30 yrs. ago when I was doing a lot of horseback riding in the Wyoming Tetons and Colorado Rockies. But the two cameras then will have lenses that I'm sure will not work with DSLR cameras? Too bad; as I had a slew of lenses from 28mm to 420mm. Am I correct that the old lenses (E series) won't work on DSLR's? Thanks.
