Similar to Bob, I use Dropbox to share processed jpg photos and/or other files with friends and family so I always stay under the freebie limit. I do not use the cloud for backup purposes as it would be time and money consuming with over 3 terabytes of data. I also use my own cloud system for all my files located on each computer that only I can access from anywhere there is a WiFi connection. Now if there isn't any connection I can make changes on any one computer and as soon as a connection is made then all changed files will replicate/update. As far as backups go I use a 5 HD setup that sync's on 3 nightly and the other 2 monthly. Works great for me.

I would agree with you on this. When one doesn't have the experience then a spray and pray method should be used but after a while one gets to understand and anticipate the nuances of the given situation, a single shot methodology will work fine. That said, it normally takes a LOT of experience to truly understand all the dynamics.

To start with, a printer is an output device. Any connected computer sends print data to printer which then prints to paper. A scanner is an input device, scanner to computer. Even if it had it's own IP address it can't store data from the scan to itself. It must be attached to a single computer for a scanner to computer path. I know of no way to accomplish what you want short of the previously mentioned sharing of the scanner computer so the scanner can save to the dedicated computer and then the secondary computer can pick up the results.

Thanks for the replies. I was hoping for more of a "would you put a 4 day thumbscrew to the planned iceberg, whale and bird tour to head west to Gros Morne or stick with the east coast plan" reply.

I know Gros Morne is beautiful and photogenic but the icebergs, whales and birds are on the east coast and don't run on a specific schedule so it may take a few days to capture any good scenes. Up north in St. Anthony would be best for the icebergs, bigger and more plentiful but that would mean at least 4 days on the road and as luck would have it, they do travel south past Twillingate (which is "around" Gander) so we have decided on the current Gander to St. Johns itinerary. On the flip side, the whales and birds head north past St. Johns so hopefully we can capture everything both coming and going so to speak. Wouldn't it be heaven to capture a whale breaching in front of a huge berg with a flock of puffins flying by?

In late June early July there are 4 of us taking a 2 week trip to Newfoundland to photograph the icebergs, birds and whales. Of course this will be done on the east coast. We are planning on 1 week around Gander (icebergs) and moving south for 1 week to St. Johns. (whales) I have heard so much about Gros Morne park but assume it is such a huge place it would take minimum of 3 days to barely scrape the surface. Also it is in the opposite direction from what we have planned. So, for those in the know, what would you do??? Returning at a later date is an option but the bucket list of places we have is extensive and we ain't gettin any younger so we need to take that into account as well.

♪ ♫ Memories ♫ ♪... I had this issue a while back and after much try this and that I discovered it was the card that was (exaggeration alert) in it's final death throes. I use Sandisk Extremes with lifetime warranty so they replaced the card with little hassle. Mine are CF cards but the issue is the same among all card types. Replace it at your earliest convenience and start enjoying photography again.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'll wait for a few more answers before passing on the news. It would be just my luck to have 100 yes you can answers and him run into a no you can't scenario.
