Even though I knew that they have problem figure it out in their head so I told them just enter the amount I gave them into the cash register and it would tell them how much change they should give back. Still they are at a lost.
No, as a whole. Why does everyone keep wanting to break everything down into sub-groups and sub-sub-groups. Aside from the fact that it's a human trait.
I used to hate the self checkout in supermarket. I think they went cheap on me in services but I started to see the good with them. Yesterday I went to McDonald's and the total was $7.23. I have only a $10 bill, a couple of Quarters and some pennies. So I gave the cashier $10 bill, one quater and 3 pennies. I told him that's $10.28 and he should enter in the register as such. He paused and even if he enter the amount and finally hesistantly gave me $3 in change (which correctly should be $3.05). I often have problem with the cashiers who don't know what to do when I gave them more money than absolutely needed. The self checkout machine has no problem with that.

Yup, I do that also sometimes to get specific change back. One time I over paid with a couple of singles, intending to get a $5 bill back. It wouldn't use all their ones and actually gave them a couple of 'extra' ones. (They go through ones like crazy.) The cashier took a double take.......
Why in the world would any software "erase" a cell before writing new data to it??? Writing new data erases the old (of sorts). (If it writes a '1' and there was a '1', it remains a '1'.) Wiping data is a separate function.
Surprising. The police have no obligation to protect anyone. If they want to stand outside a school for an hour, that's their decision. Court after court has ruled that police have to obligation to protect people. If they do nothing, that's not a violation of any laws.
I disagree that most people here know the history of photography, especially what can be accomplished in a darkroom. That's why so many seem to believe multiple imagery and adding or subtracting things from photos started with Photoshop.
That's because their first exposure to "manipulation" was with Photoshop when it made the "news". They were never cognizant of darkroom work.
