Our society has failed the female aspect and it is because money can be made off them. That is why we have sex for money, sex slave trade, daily excursions to Bangkok and other similar places for the sole purpose of have sex with children, the selling of girls by their parents in order to eat another day, and on and on. And since the world lives in a male dominated society, it appears that males have made this happen and will have to unmake it. At this point in time, the insane love of money and the demeaning of women in general says that nothing much will be accomplished any time soon.

I strongly disagree with you here. It is not about money but something else even darker. I created this link to answer you as not to divert from the OP intent.

Actually our society has failed women because of religions that have used women as scapegoat. Many previous civilizations gave an equal if not more important role to women.

Enter Christianity then Islam and you have the sharp degradation of women status. The roman church is particularly at fault in their drive to keep the clergy all male and reducing women to the role of a treacherous harlot. This is despite the bible saying otherwise, you just need to look at the women status in there.

Hiya Bmac....long time no see.... opps, am I taking over a thread and talking on an off subject topic if I say hello to you?? Oh, well.....

If it was only to say hello in a thread that would be nice, like two friends meeting a street while talking to someone else... There will never be enough of this inclusion unless it becomes a 'hello' or greeting forum!!

...What struck a cord with me is that you implied that JPEG post processing had some kind of pitfall. It doesn't...

The editing itself does not do anything to the image. The saving does, EVEN if you do not see it. If you like your pictures slowly destroyed, it is your call, not mine.

Switching to 16 bits and saving under another format not only prevent the slow degradation but also allows the creation of new data under the increased color shade.

This is not a 'made up' problem nor a 'innocent' post. This is a deliberate attempt to inform and give a workaround. You do not like it? Fine. It does not make it untrue.

As to 'take it like an adult'. Take what 'as an adult' exactly? Your constant criticism in this thread because you refuse reality? Please do make me more annoyed by you than I already am.

He did. Convert JPG to TIFF immediately, leave it that way until the last moment, and then convert back to JPG only if you need it and leave it TIFF if you don't.

The key here is to switch to 16 bit. A straight conversion keeps the 8 bit going and as such miss the opportunity to work with a much larger but depth. The solution does correct the accumulation of artifacts due to compression.

One thing thought, Adobe opens RAW file in 8bit by default this needs to be changed to 16bit as new default.

You ask for too much. You are asking for us to conform to your little world because you do not fit into the world of norm. As for your 'jpeg' go lossless. Don't compress. As for us Christians taking over a thread, that is a mixed bag. We share, we fight, we love. Welcome to OUR world.

So sticking to a topic is asking too much???
Wow, what is the TOU for then?

Knowing someones location can be important, I ask where people are, someone said what the hell does it matter, I stated that IF you know where someone lives, UK, US etc it can help you point them in the direction of a supplier, local club, local paper to send a good photo to, so it DOES matter

On that particular issue, you are right as many things differ, accessibility, laws, and cultural differences. Yet in a thread like this one, is it critical? I think not.

As a courtesy and respect to your observation I modified my location... Not that it says much other than US...

Part you are missing: I am not specifically speaking of this weird forum (chit-chat) but also of others (forums) and this where I get it even less.

Case in point: SteveR who takes everything out of context and tries to take over everything. In the thread he refers to I criticized the image as lacking the 'humph' that would make it an outstanding picture and this lack is not due to the photographer but to the file format. The image was posted to show that JPG does not create artifacts when it obviously did, as shown...

Thread: http://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-145841-1.html
This is solely the offer of a work around and a request for comments to complement or offer another way to work around the limitations of a format, not a controversial out of place topic.

Do notice the picture introduction...
Artifacts:http://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-145841-1.html#2466675
And from there it just went down the drain at a quickened pace because it does not seem apparent to me that folks understand what is being said and why.
Topic redirection:http://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-145841-3.html#2468365
Sharp request to stick to the topic, obviously ignored.

Our 'christian' 'charitable' 'born again' troll is back to work here... (poking a stick into stever eye here).

As to the smart asses who request a location as if it is determining the character of a person... Get a freaking life. Location can be faked w/o problem since YOU decide what can be placed there. So go ahead, use that to put folks down. It just show how little you really have to say since you cannot contribute otherwise. You are just part of the folks I do not understand. What are you contributions to general knowledge?

Same goes for the cheerleaders that go: "Right on! I could not say it better or    " . You cannot express yourself?

When in a photo forum, stick to the topic. Read it, understand it and then reply to add something or offer a needed correction, not to divert it toward a controversy when there is none. This is ALL I ask. Is that too much?

The free for all starts on the chit chat non photography section. Yes some times it can get out of hand but sometimes its fun to get the other side bent out of shape. I for one love to poke a stick in the other guys eye.

I do not mind a poke in my eye, it sometime helps me to see better once healed but when you see the despicable behavior of a few here (whole board) I just do not get it.

Seeing the ravage of time in someone else's face is not something that makes me feel old.

What makes me feel out of place is how I think, reason and act. There seems to be a 'decalage' almost everywhere. Music appreciation was always an eclectic affair for me so I do not relate to its changes.

Feeling old is basically a foreign idea to me but then again, I am only 57.
