First...I know this is not a macro photo. I was watering tonight and saw this battalion of bugs on my Ash tree. Can anyone tell me what they are? And will they kill my tree and other plants, Too? My granddaughter knows how to use her iphone and Google to identify things, but, alas, she's away for the rest of the month. I appreciate in advance the help.

I was working with the free trial, and merely used the stock templates, with very little input of my own. I am convinced that by actually learning to use the program could result in stellar images.

Just started playing around with DAP Pro 5 Trial Version. Can you tell me if you used one of the stock templates, and which one. I really like the effect, while maintaining a lot of the realism of the model. Or any other hints using this program?

DAP is dynamic auto painter from this company: http://www.mediachance.com. Last month they had a 40% off sale and while I didn't actually buy the program, I have had great fun with the free trial. I had never heard of it either, until another Hog posted a link in another section. I have never been able to do painterly in photoshop that I was happy with, but this is really good. You also have the option of emulating different artists such as Van Gogh, Monet, etc.

Please excuse my ignorance, but what is DAP? I really like the second one and would like to play with it. (the program, that is)

One more of Nadia, the Russian beauty. A photograph, and one after DAP application.

Yes DAP is great... but the water color would need "download" to look good. And with the DAP treatment not even Debra would know it is Debra. I think the 2nd photo would work well with a DAP treatment.

I just happen to have Silver as a painting.

I'm sure that a lot of you are tired of my "discovery" of DAP. Tomorrow ends my free trial period, so unless my fortune changes, This will be my last post utilizing DAP. The image of Debra is a scan from a print from the '90s. The field is from my very early digital images, and the building is actually an abandoned church outside Mountainaire New Mexico. After combining the three, I then let DAP create a water color emulation. It's been a fun ride for me, I hope I haven't bored too many people.
And just for kicks, another image of Silver.

I did a couple more images in Dynamic Auto Painter and I'm learning how to do some tweaking.

I'm usually the last person to know about post processing software. In another section of the hog, a sale on software from http://www.mediachance.com was discussed. I have spent the last two days playing with it, and I am truly fascinated. Most of you probably already know about it, but it's new to me. Here's a couple I have had fun with.

I had never heard of this company or the software. I am on a 30 day trial and it is fascinating. I've always been disappointed with photoshop "painterly" effects, and this is wonderful. I'm taking the liberty of posting a few images. I haven't read the instructions on how to control the edit, so this is all automatic.

When I was doing a lot of darkroom work, I would often move the easel around and see how many "pictures" I could get from one negative. Sometimes it amazed me that I could often get as many as five, merely by cropping the original image differently. Here is a series of three images, obviously from the same exposure.

You don't read or comprehend well, do you?

If you think that anybody was denigrating Viet Nam vets here, then you are too obtuse to comprehend what this discussion is about.

You apparently have a very small circle of acquaintances. On this forum alone, there's a ton of us who came home, quietly got our degrees and went to work. One day I was at lunch with several of my co-workers and a similar conversation came up, mostly denigrating Viet Nam vets. I quietly reminded them that I was one, and in an effort to back peddle, one suggested I was the sanest vet he ever met. I simply said "You don't know what drugs I'm on!" After that, a very pregnant pause before any more conversation...on a new subject.

Maybe it does not matter to you, and that's fine, stay quiet if that's your preferance. But it seems to be the calling card of about half of the people here! I don't know if they went on and worked as doctors, lawyers, accountants, teachers, truck drivers, forklift drivers, janitors or wh**ever!! I've never heard one say they came back, got the GI bill and graduated from college.
But we all know they were in the military! In fact they seem to disparage ANYBODY with an education or that has made anything of themselves, especially professionals, which tells me they themselves were never educated, which seems quite typical. I see it as pure jealousy, the fact that their lives have gone nowhere. A few here don't mention it, so the conservative ones with the BIG mouths will push them and push them...., as if their service was somehow better than someone else's service that is a liberal. Maybe they just don't realize they were on the same team!!! As far as I can tell, it defines pretty much their entire existence!
